my favorite summertime memory obviously comes from my childhood so far as it is too good to beat it yet! I remember making homemade peppermint ice cream with my dad. the old fashioned kind with the rock salt and turning in the wooden bucket for the entire day. He would make plain old vanilla and then I would get to crush up those red and white peppermint candies to add in at the end. I never remember getting sick of turning it, or the heat we lived in, just how yummy that fresh minty icecream was in the evening after making it all day!

Every summer, when I was young, I would join the few other kids that lived in my small neighborhood and play in the nearby creeks and streams. We lived in the country and there were many. We would wade and sometimes fish . . . I was a little bit of a tomboy! Our favorite place was commonly called "The Slab". Water would cover the small bridge when it was high, creating what we believed to be an amazing waterfall. We would ride our bikes to get there. We had created a first aid kit that one of us carried in the pouch on the front of our 10-speeds. (Did I forget to mention how cool we were?!?!?!?!)
We learned a lot about wildlife and the great outdoors but also a lot about friendship. I will always cherish the simpleness of those summers.

My favorite childhood memory is camping on the riverbank. Fishing, swimming, cooking over a fire, the whole thing.

favorite childhood summer memory: playing and swimming all day, everyday with most of my cousins. alas, we've all grown and gone our separate ways. would be fun to get together and reminisce about the old days...

Just last week I was reminded of a sweet summer memory as I was watching my oldest do the same thing...laying out in the yard, catching some rays after getting out of a cold pool. We had a 4 foot pool growing up and I just remember the warm sun feeling so good after getting out of that pool. :)

My favorite summertime memory was and continues to be my summer trip to the beach with family. All the kids in the family are grown now, but I just got back from the beach house my sister and her husband rented for the week. It is great to carry on this tradition with the next generation (my 3 nephews) and still have my family around. It is crazy since home is FL and I live very close to the beach, but I cherish the family time.

Loved going on vacation with all my nieces and brother. One time we came back and camped in the back of the car. Love that we all slepted together in the back and played in the back of the car. Happy with almost nothing.

favorite summer memory...hmmmm...I guess one of them would have to be playing in the sprinklers (since most of us didn't have pools!)

My next door neighbor had a honeysuckle shrub and she and I would spend so much time picking the blossoms and pulling the stems out to retrieve the honey! I can always stop and remember the smell and taste! Everytime I encounter it, I go immediately to that time in my childhood . . . our time in her yard, sleepovers . . .summer!!!
