My favorite memories of summer are my 2 sisters and I playing with all our kittens. We had a lot of mama cats therefore a lot of fun and playful kittens!

My favorite childhood summer memory are spending time as a family at the drive-in, sitting in the family station wagon(or on top:)) with my parents and three brothers....time together, a late night out, and junk food!

oh to pick only one memory... so hard!
but one thing that springs to mind right away is laying in the soft green grass, wearing my fave summer shorts, staring up at the blue, blue sky (south dakota has amazing skies!) and watching the puffy, cotton-ball clouds roll by.
ahhh, just the laziness and long days of carefree summers as a kid!

Summertime as a child meant driving from CA to OR to visit our family. One really memorable summer we drove through the Redwood forest and saw lots of the touristy stuff as opposed to the normal let's-get-there-as-quick-as-we-can mentality. Every time we stopped my parents would grab a treat out of the trunk for me. There were coloring books, toys, bubbles, puzzles, little candies-- all sorts of amazing treasures to fill the time. It was a great summer :)

Well I guess I am aging myself....but my favorite memory is of my father with his little yellow plastic slit coin pouch............he always kept nickels for us for lola's from the corner store. A lola was a triangular shaped ice cone............some will remember!!!!!
That would have to be my long standing memory of my wonderful father.

Favorite summertime memory is receiving my first bike after moving to this country and riding it around the block with my cousins all day. Also, waiting for the ice cream truck and getting ice cream and eating in the backyard.

My favorite summertime memories from childhood are spending time at my grandparent's lake cottage. We would swim all day, and then have corn on the cob, bratwurst and watermelon for dinner. Sometimes we'd luck out and there would be other kids our age visiting the lake and we'd put together a game of kickball or baseball in a nearby field.

My favorite childhood memory... oh, spitting watermelon seeds off of the porch, mom gave us a whole slice and it took all of my strength to hold it, what fun!

My favorite summer childhood memory is that my dad would take my brother and me to the public library to check out books. I loved that time...loved spending time with my dad, loved browsing the aisles of the library to select which adventures I would go on in the upcoming week through the magical pages of a book. I would spend hours reading in the summer. It is still one of my favorite summer activities. :)

my favorite childhood memory involved my grandmother...whenever i craved grapeleaves (an arabic dish), she'd take me out for a walk, pick the grapeleaves, and make them for me....now that's an awesome nana!

Christmas was in summer for us (I lived in South Africa), so I remember swimming for what seemed like 24/7 wrinkly fingers and toes from the pool, and battling to go to sleep on Christmas Eve, because it was soon to be midnight when we would get woken to open our presents.

riding bikes down to the river and jumping from a big rope string into the water-the small street swing-because it was at the end of small street! you had to get a friend to swing the rope to you and you had to jump on half way up the bank so you wouldn't hit an old tree down in the water.

I would have to say it would have been staying out late with all of my cousins playing, riding bikes, hide-n-go-seek, etc. These days you would have to be insane to let your kids play outside like that but back then it wasn't so much of a concern. Great question!

Believe it or not, my favorite summertime memory involves work. Before I was old enough to drive, I would help my dad mow yards. I loved it! Loved mowing...loved spending time with my dad. And as a bonus - my dad paid me!

My favorite summertime memory is helping my Mamaw gather up okra, corn, and green beans and sitting down for hours snapping okra & beans or shucking the corn (all of this was to be canned for winter). At the end of the day, she would make supper that would feed an army and then my cousins and I would sit out on Mamway's front porch and watch for the lightning bugs to come out so we could catch 'em in Mamaw's empty canning jars.
