Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway
Tags:In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking:Yesterday & Today.
It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.
And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.
Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:
• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.
• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.
• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.
• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).
• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.
• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.
• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).
• This workshop is a chance for you to:
investigate your past through words + photos
do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)
tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth
work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow
celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today
connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives
• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.
I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.
I hope to see you there.
Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.
And now, the giveaway.
Three people are going to win a spot in my Yesterday & Today workshop. To be entered please share just the subject of a story about yourself you would like to document. Comments will close tomorrow, Friday September 24th at noon Pacific. Winners will be posted shortly after.

I would love to document about my mom's side of the family. Just last week she borrowed a lot of pictures from my aunt, her oldest sister and most of them I've never seen in my life. It's fascinating to look at the faces and places in the photographs and to learn more about this part of my family!

I'd like to document my childhood years - growing up on the outskirts of a small town, filling the days with neighborhood friends, acres of land and our imaginations.

I would like to document my relationship to my autistic brother. It has made me a better person, and few people realize it.

I'd like to document stories of my childhood holidays, both camping and overseas trips. We had so much fun at those times, and I'd hate to lose those memories.

My father passed away unexpectantly 15 years ago. Unfortunately, he missed my wedding and the birth of his first grandchild. He was a wonderful man, unselfish and caring. I would love for my daugher (now 9 years old) to have an album celebrating the life of the grandfather she never got to meet. Even though he is not with us, I want my daughter to grow up "knowing" him.

I would like to document the story of the relationship I had with my beloved Bichon who passed away a week ago. I'd like to do it while my memory is still sharp. I've started writing things about Benji that come to mind in a little notebook.

i would want to document the stories of giving birth to my two children- the birth of my oldest came with unexpected complications and resulted with a 2 week stay in the NICU and the birth of my second child was completely "normal". These two births profoundly impacted me and BOTH brought about many feelings and emotions- joy, fear, relief, anxiety, thankfulness, and healing.

I would like to compare my upbringing with the childhood of my mother and father who had to suffer from the consequences of the war 1945. How has their childhood influenced their relationship to their own childs... many difficult questions, they have to be answered now, in a couple of years it might be too late.

I'd like to document my path from farm girl to DC lawyer, it was unpredictable and very unusual where I come from really. I think it might be good for my kids to have later.

I'd like to work on showing how dancing has led me to the most rewarding adult friendships. Dancing been a thread that has run through my life from childhood and then being involved in Folk dance as an adult and I'd love to pull it all together.

Actually I wish my mom would sign up for this class. She has my entire childhood and previous times, still stored as photos in boxes. She refers to them as her guilty conscience. I know I have to get them sorted while she is still around to tell the stories behind them. So that would be my wish: to start documenting those boxes. :)

With 810 people already leaving comments I know I will not win this spot but the story I most want to document is my story of surival! Surviving my childhood and the post partum depression I have gone through! They have both made me a stronger person but I am still seeing the past thru dark glasses and would like to think and document on the more positive side of what I have gone thru! I need time and a little help to document those stories so I can see the past and present for what it is. I know my husband would be very grateful for a better perspective from me and for him to see thru scrapbooking. Thanks for the chance!
