Dear Kokuyo Dot-N-Roller I Will Miss You So
Tags:
Yes, it's pretty silly and a tad melodramatic to be sad at the loss of my favorite adhesive.
But when you work with adhesive as much as I do, and you finally find one that is reliable and feels darn good in your hand, it's a big bummer to have it go away. Yep, in case you haven't heard yet Kokuyo will not be distributing the Dot N Roller in the US anymore.
I am starting to test out some other permanent brands including the Tombow Mono, the Therm-O-Web Memory Tape Runner (I like many of their other adhesives), and the 3L Easy Runner (which I don't like as much because I found that I like dots rather than tabs). I am still resisting that Scotch ATG mainly because it seems so big and bulky, but I might just have to try it after reading so many positive reviews both in comments here and elsewhere. If you use the ATG do you use the red one or the yellow one? Does it go on like dots or tabs?
So what are you testing out or using now?

I swear by the Thermoweb XXL Tape Runner. It is my go to adhesive for almost everything! It is way easy to use and reload with refills and lasts a long time. Plus, you can buy the refills in bulk.

I'm still using my stash. Will miss those dots. My sister just bought the smaller Glue Glider and loves it. I will probably try that one as well. Have used Tombow and like ok but nothing so far compares to the Dot n Roller. Sigh. Rubber cement does sound promising, Cathy.

I use the ATG red. I love it. It comes out as a continuous line of adhesive, not dots or tabs. I will say, I did take forever to buy it because of the size and cost. Happy to say the size has never been a problem for me. I REALLY like the fact that it takes a long time for it to run out. I keep a half dozen refills on hand and I am set to go for a long time!

The ATG uses a continuous strip of adhesive, so it's as long or as short as you make it. I have the yellow ATG and the red one. The yellow is my default, but I like the red--which puts down a narrower strip of adhesive--for ribbon.
The ATG is quite light for its size--and really easy to find on your desk!

So that's what happened to it!! Been searching for it everywhere online. I feel the same as you do Ali. Sad. I so loved my Kokuyo. It
rolled ever so smoothly and effortlessly over my projects.
Now what?! Could never go back to Hermafix. Thrown one two many of those against a wall in the past.
Possibly Xyron?
Oh man. I'm gonna go have another cup of hot chocolate over this one.

I use the 3L e-z runner. yes, it's tabs, but so easy to use. For smaller applications I use CM mini tape runner or Glue Dots.
Hope that helps

Most of your glues are not obtainable here in the UK. My own favourite (and very popular over here) is Herma tape in a roller, the non-permanent respositionable kind. Brilliant stuff. Got some where you don't want it? No problem, just rub it off little with a finger or a soft eraser. Anyone over there importing it?

I almost exclusively use the Therm O Web memory runner - can't beat the price for the length of the refills - and it's not overly stringy or gooey...cause um...I don't need any extra goo in my albums ;)

Tombow Mono Adhesive Dots works practically as well. I also prefer the "dots" adhesive. But I'm not a fan of Hermafix -- it's too expensive and not as strong.

I use the red ATG for some projects but love the Kokuyo for small detail pieces. I don't know what I'll be using now. I have used the other three products you mention and did not like any of them.

I too am so sad about Kokuyo. I have about 5 refills left and I am using it very sparingly! Next, I think I am going to switch to the Glue glider pro...all the benefits of an ATG, but not as heavy and bulky.

Hi Ali! I like the Tombo Mono Adhesive a lot, but it sticks quite quickly, and I usually change my mind on placement! My favorite product is Scotch Double Sided. It allows longer "moving around" time before it sticks permanently, is photo-safe, and is inexpensive to get in refills.

I love tombo as well:)

I use the Tombow Mono permanent and love it. However, the one time I used the removable, I did not care for it. I found that it barely stuck (i know it's meant to be removable, but I have used others that are removable and they had more stickiness and staying power than I found the Tombow removable to have)

Great timing, as I ran out of EVERY type of adhesive I own last night! Seriously, tabs, dots, tape, and even a glue stick!
I love the Snail Permenant/Tombow Permenant (Snail's from Stampin' UP!) for most things, then I switch to Super Tacky Tape for ribbon, heavier items, etc.

Not silly and melodramatic at all. I am with you! I love the dots! Luckily I still have some to use up while I wait for you to find a good replacement. ;-)

I use the red ATG and love it. I had tried the Glue Glider and didn't like it at all. My sister also resisted the ATG for a very long time had tried the Glue Glider. She hated it and finally gave in and bought the ATG and loves it.
