Dear Kokuyo Dot-N-Roller I Will Miss You So
Tags:
Yes, it's pretty silly and a tad melodramatic to be sad at the loss of my favorite adhesive.
But when you work with adhesive as much as I do, and you finally find one that is reliable and feels darn good in your hand, it's a big bummer to have it go away. Yep, in case you haven't heard yet Kokuyo will not be distributing the Dot N Roller in the US anymore.
I am starting to test out some other permanent brands including the Tombow Mono, the Therm-O-Web Memory Tape Runner (I like many of their other adhesives), and the 3L Easy Runner (which I don't like as much because I found that I like dots rather than tabs). I am still resisting that Scotch ATG mainly because it seems so big and bulky, but I might just have to try it after reading so many positive reviews both in comments here and elsewhere. If you use the ATG do you use the red one or the yellow one? Does it go on like dots or tabs?
So what are you testing out or using now?

I have the Red ATG. I love it! It is really lightweight. And the adhesive lasts so long in it. I love not having to stop and change my adhesive all of the time. I think this is one of my best scrapbook purchases ever!

Faye,
I have a friend who uses glue sticks and I keep the maojority of cards she sends me (she does beautiful work and always tries new things) and unfortunately I thought you might not know the glue sticks come un stuck after a few months. Just an observation.

OK... I use the Tombo Mono for most things.. but find stuff comes 'undone' if I get too many layers or bulk going on...
I have 'tested' a girlfriends ATG gun.. The Yellow.. And that stuff is very very tacky and seriously sticks! If you put something down, good luck getting it off! It's like 'super glue' for scrapbooking.. It is not repositional.. Unless someone knows differently...It can cause a few heartaches if you rip your paper/photos, etc..

I totally get it, and I'm sorry for your loss. :) I like the Tomhow Mono and Zip Dry. I haven't been inspired to use any other kind more than once. Good luck in your search!

I use the ATG gun (red). I like it and have yet to find another adhesive that works as good as this. Yes, it's big but I no longer spend time looking for my adhesive, the big red gun is easy to spot.

Ahh Ali,
I think there is an opportunity here! I think we need to investigate where Kokuyo is selling the goods. (you said no longer in the US...which leads me to think it is avail. somewhere else?)
I have been mourning the loss since this summer...trying to snatch every refill I can find.
Maybe I will open a black-market supply store?!
If all else fails, I am on to SPRAY ADHESIVE. My fav mockumentary used it exclusively!

I love my ATG! I have the red one. It does take awhile to get used to it, but the adhesive is very inexpensive and it doesn't run out in the middle of projects.

Hi Ali,
I think you should take a look at this one.

The diamond pattern is very similar to the dot n' roller. The dot n' roller is my favorite too but this comes in a very close second for me. It is made by Tombo. Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think!

I LOVE my ATG - I actually bought both the red and the yellow so that I could have the narrow 1/4" adhesive and the wider 1/2 - 3/4" adhesive both going at the same time. Yes, they are large but their size does not make them difficult to use or maneuver. Since they are trigger activated you can have small or long lengths of adhesive. I was always aggrivated by other dispensers because I never was able to get the adhesive in the right spot or position - the trigger solves that problem. And, the stuff sticks like you wouldn't believe. Definitely one of my best scrapbook tool investments. I found a GREAT deal on them at: www.framingsupplies.com (the reason I bought both)

another vote for the red ATG gun here. it does look unwieldy, but you get used to it quickly. and it is very economical when compared to the other products out there. i'd say give it a try and you may be pleasantly surprised!

I am so very sad about Kokuyo deciding not to offer the Dot-N-Roller in the States. It has been my favorite adhesive for a while. I have switched back to Tombow Mono adhesive as I have used up my stash of the Kokuyo. I have thought about switching to the ATG but just haven't done it yet.

I love my (red) ATG! It doesn't go on as dots, but rather a continuous strip of adhesive. It takes a little getting used to at first because it's so big, but after that you'll hardly notice the difference-only the fact that you don't have to change it as often because the rolls last a while!

After spending so much money in other adhesives (and I tried them ALL) I got the red ATG gun and have never looked back! I order from framingsupplies.com out of NC and they have wonderful fast service. It took no time to get used to the larger gun because it is so light weight. Reloading the tape takes a time or two to get used to but now I can do it very quickly. You gain more with this gun than what you give up with the others (size). I don't think you will be disappointed!

I have the ATG yellow, and I love it. At first, I felt like I had a huge weapon in my hand, but now, I'm so used to it, and I really do love it. I use a lot of adhesive, and I love the HUGE rolls I can get for the ATG. Sorry your favorite adhesive is going away!

I love the Tombow Mono permanent. I've bought the removeable but wasn't impressed. I use the permanent for everything except photos I don't have digital copies of. Good luck!

I'm an ol' school scrapper and still scrappin' with good ol' glue sticks. I do use my dotz for my embellies, ribbon, metal, etc. but it's so hard to let go of the stick ;)

I absolutely LOVE my big, red ATG! The adhesive goes on like a billion mini-dots, and I like that you can use your finger to "roll" them off your picture/paper if you change your mind about where you put them. I've gotten use to the size and don't find it bulky at all anymore. Plus, it doesn't get easily lost in the pile of stuff of my scrapdesk like so many smaller ones did.
