December Daily 2009 : Day One
Tags:WELCOME TO DECEMBER DAILY 2009
Here's to keeping it simple: a photo, a few words, and a mini flash card from Kari Craft all tucked into the pocket of my album.
I may add something from later today on the back of this photo or I will use the back as part of Day Two. I am thinking about stitching along the top after I make something for the back.

SUPPLIES : 25 Days of December Photo Overlays (made it larger and moved the line in Photoshop); Magic Flash Card from Kari Craft; Garamond
Here's what the page looked like before adding the content:
This post is part of a series documenting the month of December 2009. You find out more information and view all the completed pages of my album here.
SCRAPBOOKING FOR GOOD : I recently donated signed copies of my books Life Artist, A Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking 2, Sharing Your Story, and an original canvas from my Life Artist book to Becca Sutton who is raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. These items are all available for bidding through an auction she is hosting here.

Hey Bethany - you can always just use your blog as a way to document the month + create later (or not). You can do it!!!!

Nice start :)
You print all those photos by yourself? Doesn't the color fade after time? That's always happening to my pictures :/

Nice! You are amazing:) Ali, I was wondering if you have considered creating a December Daily template for a Shutterfly digital album? Or maybe you have already and I've been living under a rock?

Looks great -- took my photo this morning and going to put it together tonight --- are you going to set up a Flickr gallery like last year?

I had to also thank you for your support of JDRF. I'm a Type 1 diabetic, and so appreciate your generosity!

I'm ready to go on Day 1 - we're also have the Lego Advent. It's still a surprise in our house. Can't wait to see my little man's face. And for my little girl - the new Xmas Fancy Nancy book. I couldn't wait until Christmas to give it to her. Should make for a good day 1 photo!

I must be channeling my inner Ali as last night (before seeing this post) I worked on a little tag to put on the corner of my photo, similar to what you have done. Mine says "Remember the simple joys". I'll be getting my photos printed later this week, when I have a car and can get to the store.
I've never seen the Lego advent before. Super cool for boys.

I am so glad I finally finished my foundation pages. Now the real fun begins. I am so happy too that you are a proponent of simplicity...I need that in my life right now. Todays page with Simon is just perfect.

Ali,
The fun begins. Yeah! Question for you (kind of a long one)- last year I jumped right into the whole scrapbooking process with the December Daily and had a great time.
One thing though that I did not do last year was incorporate digital elements with the paper scrapbooking. I bought the 25 days photo overlays and just printed them out and used them as journaling cards. But I would love to be able to use it in photoshop as an overlay as you did for today's picture. Do you know of a quick tutorial that I could access to learn how to do this? Thanks for any help.

Guess what MY Dec 1 photo is of? My son opening his first window on his Lego Pirate advent set !! We come from places so far apart, from all over the world yet really we are all the same - that's comforting somehow - lol.

Is Life Artist in print again or did you just have extra copies from before? I know you had mentioned that you were working on getting a different publisher.
This is my first year doing this album though I am calling it a Holiday Daily as I started with Thanksgiving and will go through New Year's. I am having a great time with it (all digi) and have really appreciated the journaling prompts from Jessica Sprague's "Holidays In Hand" class. I got so excited I pre-made a few day's pages so that I would have completed pages on those days during the month where scrapping just wasn't going to happen. If none of those days pop up then I will just have extra journaling to include. The stories were definitely worth telling no matter where their final home is.
Thanks for sharing with us!

Hi Ali,
How did you change the color of the overlay? I managed to change the words to white, but the box and line under the words is still black. Thanks.
