I have lots of favorite traditions that are celebrated in December, but one I enjoy the most (probably because I don't have to really do anything to appreciate it) is driving around as a family and looking at all the lights, especially the Way of Lights at the Shrine.

We have three daughters and for the past 15 years or so I ask them to write about what has happened in their life for the past year. When they were younger, they drew pictures of their "favorites" (friends, foods, hobbies, t.v. shows etc.); it has evolved into beautiful writing pieces which I then copy and include a cover page of family pictures for the year. These booklets are given to the grandparents on Christmas and everyone looks forward to reading them. Our girls are 26, 23 and 21 and I plan on continuing this tradition as long as possible!

My favorite December tradition is getting together with my cousins on the Weekend before Christmas. We started this as we all began to get married and had to divide time between two families, We wanted to make sure that we all had time to connect with eachother for the holidays!

this is not a tradition that we still do, but one from my childhood that I loved and will never forget. We lived on a farm growing up and traditionally most families leave out cookies for santa, but in our family my dad would go to the barn and get a bale of hay to leave out on the lawn for Santa's Reindeer. In the morning when we would wake up we would see the melted spot on the lawn where they hay sat on the snow and all mess of scraps left from them eating. It was so magical and something that I will never forget. I hope that everyone has a wonderful and magical Holiday!!

My favorite December tradition is decorating for the holidays with my family - every year we get out all of our Christmas music and make hot chocolate while we decorate the tree and put up the lights. I love going through the boxes of ornaments and savoring the memories that each decoration brings.

My favourite tradition is the one where we make (or source) one new ornament for our tree each year, one that has meaning for all of us.

My favorite Christmas tradition is having 24 Christmas books wraped up and my son picks one book a night, opens it up and we read it. The last night is always The Night Before Christmas.

One of my very favourite traditions is the Christmas Eve candlelight service at church and then coming home to open gifts on Christmas Eve. Thanks for asking good questions and sharing great finds!

Thank you for this opportunity. My favorite tradition has been letting my boys pick out an ornament of their own each year. Now that they are adults, I get a kick out of seeing them go through them and remembering why they bought each ornament as we are decorating the tree.

Our family moves around a lot and we've had the last 3 Christmases in 3 different countries..Christmas comes and we could be eating different foods with different peoples.. Every December, though, we do have a little advent calendar, and our little girl looks forward to opening that every December.. We do have other fun things that we do but it is mainly a time for togetherness for us, and that's what's important to our lives.

My favorite tradition is Christmas Cookie Making. But my favorite thing is spending time with loved ones. As I recently lost a beloved dog, I am again reminded of the importance of the real reason for the season!

Just one? OK: when my brothers and I were kids, we acted out 'Twas the Night Before Christmas every Christmas Eve, and my own children have done the same since they were old enough to shake like a bowlful of jelly and race to the window and throw up the sash (or the hash, as my brother once famously acted out).
