One of our favorites is bundling up and heading out to walk past all the beautifully lit homes that are decorated with tons of lights.

My favorite tradition is having birthday cake for breakfast Christmas morning. I love how we start off the day celebrating Christ's birth before anyone even gets to open one gift. I loved this when I was a kid and now my kids love it. What kid wouldn't want birthday cake for breakfast?

Hanging out with the family on Christmas Eve, having dinner and later opening just one gift per person. It's usually quieter than on Christmas Day when there are more people around.

I've always helped my grandmother make Christmas boxes. We would can and bake for weeks beforehand. Then it was my job to wrap the cardboard boxes in Christmas wrapping. We would fill the boxes--one per family--with dill pickles, salsa, jams, bread, candies, cookies, Chex mix, etc. I've helped with the boxes since I was probably 10, and I am 34 now. My grandmother died 4 years ago, and the Christmas boxes stopped. I would like to resurrect the tradition, even on a smaller scale, perhaps for neighbors or co-workers or people without families.

My favorite December tradition is getting the kids new pajamas. Even though the oldest is 16, we all still enjoy it!

My very favorite Christmas tradition is having all my children and now grand-children over one evening early in December to decorate my tree. We order pizzas, put on Christmas music, laugh and just enjoy each others company. AND..my tree gets decorated! It's a WIN/WIN situation!!

One of our favorite traditions has been the Advent Calendar. Every year my kids really looked forward to it, but as they got older I wonder if they still looked forward to it. Well my daughter text me from college on December 1st saying she missed her Advent Calendar. I did not even think to send one to her new "home". Oops...it is now on my November to-do list for 2010!

My favorite Christmas tradition when I was a kid was my Mom always read us "Twas the Night Before Christmas" on Christmas Eve. I hope to someday start that as a tradition when we have children. But, for this year, I decided to buy my niece and nephew a recordable "Twas the Night Before Christmas" book from Hallmark - my husband and I took turns reading (and recording) the pages.

Hands down....Christmas Eve service with my family. Singing Silent night by candle light. Celebrating Jesus. Even more special this year as my dad has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized this year.

Since my parents have retired and winter in Ft. Myers, FL we have Christmas day all to ourselves. We have made our own tradition the last couple of years. We have a nice relaxing Christmas morning opening gifts and after the kids have a chance to play with there new goodies we go see a movie. It has become a fun and relaxing day without having to run to so many different places.

Will probably have to schedule 2+ hours for present opening...

We actually just did this last night...we blasted the Christmas music while we watched the kids decorate the Christmas tree. It only lasted an hour, but it's an hour I cherished this holiday season.
