And, the evening snack.

My overwhelming thought about this project today: I love photos.

I definitely recovered from the frustrations of yesterday. Thanks for all the nice comments and I'm so glad that so many of us are familiar with the event known as "waking up in the morning to a kitchen full of dirty dishes from the night before."

Thursdays around here follow a similar progression as Tuesdays - with Simon's swimming lessons in the afternoon. His swimming lessons have become a treasured Mom & Simon time. Rather than the bus bringing him home, I pick him up from school and take him to the athletic club for swimming lessons. Because of the time of the lesson we are able to not be in a hurry - I bring him a snack, we sit in the lobby together, and then we make our way downstairs to the pool. He really loves being in the water (definitely takes after his mama) and is making really great progress. It's a great part of our weekly routine right now.

And for today, one of my most favorite quotes from Mary Jean Iron that I recite to myself often:

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.

I wish you a wonderfully normal, ordinary day.

Made me smile, which is a feat when I'm cranky from a half night's sleep. Thanks for the lift.

Ali, this is a great week for you. Someday you and your adult children will look back at this album and will love the 'off-kilter Wednesday' and the 'ordinary Thursday' because it is a reflection of life and you captured it for a week. Thank you for sharing and for helping me to get my own 'week in the life' project set up.

one thing i am happy about and had to remind myself of a few time yesterday was that my camera date/time stamps each photo as i take it...will be great to remember the details of the day, if my memory needs any jogging.

I have been absorbing your Week in the Life project and will (hopefully) tackle one myself in the near future... Ironically, I was thinking of the very same quote just the other day as I tried to reflect on what my goals for the project, what I want to capture about our lives, etc. would be. Great minds think alike! :) Thank you for being so willing to share your talents and insights (And ESPECIALLY the little details like breakfast, laundry, and dishes from the night before... That's the real life stuff that Moms SHOULD share with other Moms. Oh, and my 18 month old eats two or three breakfasts as well!)!

Hi Ali! Love the post. I love how you simply recorded things in a morning, afternoon, and evening perspective.
Are you going to break them down into times or just keep the day as it is? I love it - it simplifies and amplifies the realness of it.

Hey Ali....random mom question....our little ones are about the same age (nearly 15 months)...and I noticed in your photo what looks like pb toast...I've been wanting to try some pb with my little guy, since none of us are allergic....but the dr. suggested waiting until he's two....just wondering if that's what that is, and if you had any thoughts....
    thanks! Jamie

Ali, what a gut wrenching quote! Love the normalcy, love the imperfection, love the embracing of it all, love the quotes.
Am so enjoying this week. I have never taken this many every day photos of our family in this condensed time frame before now. Thank you for the call to remember and tell - to document life.
TGIF! Happy Friday to you and all of you!
