AE : Inspirations
Tags:It's been awhile since I've shared things that have been inspiring me. Here's a peek at some of the things I've been into lately:
COLOR :Gray (as in my new favorite little coat for Anna)

FONT :Snell Roundhand
PATTERN :Diagonal (image from the fabulous Oh Joy)
SHAPE :Oval (oval journal spots coming soon to Designer Digitals)
LETTER :g (as in my little niece Gabrielle)
NUMBER :4 (as in the four people in our family - feeling so glad to be home and to be getting back into the routine of our lives)
WORD :measure (like measuring cups and measuring the height of growing children who seem to be getting taller by the minute)
Want to play along? I'd love to hear what's inspiring you.
Have you listened to the Paperclipping Roundtable podcast yet? Each week there's a new topic and rotating panelists and special guests. Here's a recent one featuring me and Tim Holtz talking about vintage & modern, titled "How Vintage Are You?"
A few more Week In The Life examples coming tomorrow.

* The color green -- I can't leave it alone!
* Ephemera -- I spent Saturday afternoon with my new Cuttlebug and a small set of flower dies cutting out flowers made of maps, dictionary pages, and vintage sheet music.
* The new project table in my space, which allows me to leave projects out, in progress -- this has seemingly eliminated a large barrier to getting things done.

I love pearls too Linda...I had a pair long ago and think that might be something I ask for this year for my birthday. I wear diamond studs everyday that I love...but another beautifully simple addition might be just the thing.

As new to having a baby girl, I'm loving ruffles like the shirts Elizabeth Kratchner has been making and this ruffle tee: http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/CrewCutBrowse/Girl_Shop_By_Category/knitstees/collectibletees/PRDOVR~26094/26094.jsp
I also love the big script "Dream" sign on my daughter's wall just above the door that I think serves as a reminder for all of us.
Finally, I've been following Stacy Julian's Color Challenge each week. It gets me thinking about pages to make and color combinations I wouldn't usually try. It is a great exercise. I think maybe I need a similar post to this one. Thanks for the inspiration you continue to be!

What is inspiring me beyond measure right now is the intro to The Pacific miniseries on HBO. The music is amazing and so are the visuals. It is super close photography of charcoal on paper then it goes to pencil drawings that morph into photos of the actors. I AM NOT GIVING IT THE JUSTICE IT DESERVES, but, trust me, it is SOOOOO inspiring. I am in awe of the minds that created it. It will make you want to go take music and drawing classes. Check it out if you can

Nature is inspiring me now since we just put in a veggie garden & have been growing lots of things in the greenhouse to bring out to the garden. The flowers are blooming, the trees are growing, the birds are nesting...life is good :)

Yes, I enjoyed the Paperclipping roundtable....but I do not think of your style as Vintage. Tim, YES, you are Classic. What inspires me: Vintage....as Tim said, Something that provokes memories. Family History. The older I get, the stronger the feelings get to record our family history. Not the kids, their mothers are doing that. I am imspired to get the stories and photos of older generations recorded so the kids will know WHERE they come from and WHY they act as they do. All the new vintage papers, etc come at a good time for me.

Inspiring me:
rain (luckily!) which "allows" me to ignore the giant weeds out my front door...
flowers at the nursery - spent the morning shooting close-up photos of favs.
texture - also shot images of color textures in the leaves
leaves - tied to the texture: my husband is texturing the dining room walls - we're going for a rough, stucco look which means I can press some leaves into the texture just for fun!
paint - what comes after the texture
color - searching for the colors (yes plural) we're going to paint the dining room - mustard yellows, terra cotta reds/oranges with splashes of turquoise, lime, purple, red... peeking out randomly...
exercise - I've been on a daily exercise thing for about 5-6 months now - it keeps the brain sharp, the body sharper, and hopefully any hot-flash moods at bay!

Inspired by my grandson who called to tell me his success in potty training - he helps me remember we really do need to celebrate life's little accomplishments.
Inspired by my daughter who has gotten past the baby blues and is taking charge of her life again.
Inspired by my not so cluttered house.
Inspired by my Beginner's Yoga DVD!

I have to say autumn colours as it is autumn over here in Adelaide, although it does not last for long. Rust, yellow, orange and deep crimsons. And stamps are my thing at the moment. A whole new world of creativity for my scrapbooking....welcome home Ali

Loved the paperclipping podcast-is there any way to see more of Jess's Week in the Life album? I love her simple, classic style! Thanks!

Gardening - the joy of new life in my yard - today I saw tiny Pixie Crunch apples growing on three trees that I planted as little twigs just 2 short years ago.
Puppies - we have two new Vizslas. Their love of life is contagious.
The countdown until summer vacation. I treasure the "update" on how many days left of kindergarten for my daughter, Schuyler.

Right now I'm inspired by activities more than things. Cooking. Exercising. Building models. Cleaning. Reading. Crafting.
It's fun to be DOING!
