Project Life 2012 | Week Ten
Tags:Welcome to Project Life 2012 | Week Ten.
I have to tell you that I really enjoyed working on this particular week yesterday. There was something about going back over it yesterday, seeing the notes I'd jotted down and the photos I'd taken in the midst of a tough week that really helped me take a deep breath of perspective.
It was also a gentle reminder that time and life are marching forward and that today is what I choose to make of it.
I used my new Epson PictureMate Show for a bunch of my photos this week (which was awesome timing since it was time for new ink on my R2000). You can check out my review over on my other blog today.
Here's a look at my Week Ten spread:
The left side:
I used one of the Clementine folded cards opened up for longer journaling about an adventure that Chris and Simon took to the police station.
This is the back of the die-cut vellum quote from last week.
Used word art from my Moving Forward digital brushes and went big right on top of a photo of myself. Some of the word art included in that set is now available as a new clear stamp set called Saying Hello: Scrapbook.com | Two Peas.
The insert for this week is a Design G page protector with the second half cut off to make it smaller. Added a self-adhesive tab along the edge of the insert.
Used my Silhouette to cut some more vellum (loving that) using my Hello Life Boxes Vol. 3. I also had to sneak that cloud vellum paper in again and a piece from that My Mind's Eye Be Amazing chipboard set.
Word art on top of the bottom photo of Anna swinging is Kids Are Cool. That one is also available as a stamp set: Kids Are Cool.
"Be true to yourself" is a sticker from Cosmo Cricket called Tiny Text. I don't think it's available anymore. I love how the die-cut "love" box frames Simon either way the insert lays.
Top right photo with Simon and Katie includes a digital brush from my This One set. The gratitude card can be found in the Life Sentiment Journal Cards Vol.2 set and was printed on photo paper. Letter stickers include an awesome orange set from Bella Blvd (Simply Simona Orange) and two from American Crafts (Amy Tangerine Goodness and Hollyday Silver Elf).
Next to the gratitude card I included a print out of a text conversation from my iphone with Chris about Simon's reading this past weekend.
In our kitchen I cleaned out two shallow drawers and organized the contents dedicating one for Simon's stuff and one for Anna's stuff. This is a favorite place to sit (the laptop can usually be found in this location) and I love having a very specific spot to corral some of their little treasures that tend to live in the kitchen area.
I'm still a fan of metal-rimmed circle tags - these one's I used to hold stamped initials. I cut them with Tim's scissors.
Red ink is from the Woodgrain set and the blue ink is Luxe Metallics (both Colorbox). Red stamps are from Educational Insights.
"Sunday" is from my Today Textured Word Art was added on top of my photo in Photoshop. I put together a simple video on how to copy, cut and paste a word art file to add text in the middle just like I did above:

Hope you guys are having a great week.

Thanks for sharing your week. Love your product links and your little bit about a drawer for the kids in the kitchen, also your video. It's amazing how much one learns from a post like this!

Smiling and tearing up at the same time reading your PL journaling this week - having an emotional week with illness in my household and being thankful that this is a place we can all reach out to one another and get encouraged. Your strength is inspiring and uplifting. You keep it real, thank you. Love your photos as always.

So true about keeping it real. You share it all Ali and you just don't know how much that helps. It helps to see that imperfection and struggles are not applicable only to me. Thank you for sharing even when you don't have to!

Love how you divided up the trip to the doctor with the vellum/protector. I like how it makes it interactive.
Your self portrait/word art combo is powerful stuff.

Ali, I think I'm going to adopt your kitchen drawer idea for my husband and me, lol! It will keep a lot of clutter off of the counters.
You may have heard of this idea already, but in case you haven't:
When my son was in elementary school (he's 33 now) we used an old 1940-ish telephone table (small table on tall legs with an open-front shelf/cubby area under the table top where the phone book would go) as a 'LAUNCH PAD' for his school work. The table - for him and him alone - was in the kitchen near the back door. Before bed, everything that needed to go to school in the morning (bookbag, homework, permission slips, etc.) was placed on the launch pad where it was easy to retrieve in the morning on our way to the garage. We never had to go hunting for books, etc.
Papers and artwork that were staying at home were left in the cubby area until I had a chance to sort through them.
My son loved having his very own LAUNCH PAD and I loved the convenience of it.
Love this week's PL! :-)

Dori,
I love that idea! My little man is just in his second year of preschool but has to bring in his "homework" on Mondays and his sharing on Wednesdays. This would be awesome for that and get him in the habit for when he's older!
Thanks!
