Week In The Life 2012 | Tuesday Words + Photos
Tags:NUMBER OF PHOTOS FOR TUESDAY | around 80 (only a couple on my iphone)
A couple things:
This is not a competition. It's not about the number of photos. It's not about how much you write or don't write. It's about capturing and celebrating the details of your own life - for yourself, for your family, etc.
I didn't feel like writing much today. I want you to remember, and I keep reminding myself, that this project can be what you want it to be. It can evolve and morph over the course of the week as you find your own rhythm and routine.
Today I thought a lot about creating a sustainable pace. In between dealing with some Simon stuff and some mortgage refinance stuff and some health insurance stuff and some work stuff, I thought about composition. I really took intentional photos today - not photos of everything that was happening (skipped a couple big things like needing to go to Simon's school for an impromptu meeting in the middle of the day) - but photos that represented the flow and rhythm of the day.
Here's a look at some of my Tuesday photos:
Beginning.
Reading.
Saying goodbye.
Saying hello.
Saying goodbye.
Resting.
Cleaning.
Working.
Making coffee.
Enjoying.
Eating.
Working.
Eating and working.
Listening.
Driving.
Jumping for joy.
Again.
And again.
Pretending.
Throwing.
Expressing.
Welcoming.
No thanking.
Capturing.
Breathing deep.
Feeling thankful.
Working.
Finishing up the day.
Thank you for being a part of this journey.

I am totally enjoying this project and I am not even doing it. I find myself not wanting to work but rather sit here with a cup of tea and read others entries and find inspiration and ideas in others ... when I am done the course I am working on (in 1 month) I am seriously considering tackling this project. It seems like such a great way to document the everyday and everything. Thank you to everyone who is participating with Ali and sharing a week in their lives :)

These are just precious Ali, what awesome shots you got thru the day of Miss Anna, love love them. Even Simon with his hand up makes me smile and reminds me of my Sam right now, great job with the words for these. Love the ones of you, so nice with the light coming in.
I agree about the number of photos, high or low it's the story that counts. Having said that I think having a lot of photos yesterday captured my whole day pretty well and I won't do this every day but it's great to see the actual whole day in photos, want to collage it!!
Sorry to see that Anna is sick today, who would have thought after all those smiles yesterday, that's what happens though. Hugs to both of you and feel better wishes soon.
Thanks again Ali for this project, so thankful for it!!

Those photos of Simon with his hands in front of his face will become more frequent. Both of my kids grew up with me taking lots of photos but now...getting my oldest (16) in front of the camera is out of the question. He doesn't want his picture taken and goes into hiding when I bring my camera out. This is making Project Life more difficult for me. I have more than enough pictures of his shoes, bookbag, uniforms (on hangers), vehicle, messy room - would love to see pictures of braces, haircuts and things of that nature but he says no so I don't push - that's not enjoyable for either of us.

I, too, recognized my older son in those pics of Simon. It really made me laugh! My son Alex, now 13, has decided recently that he doesn't want his photo taken anymore. He puts his hand up in front of his face or just hides altogether from the camera. I've had to start being sneaky and take pictures of him while he is engaged in some other activity. I miss, though, those straight-on, full-face, huge-grin photos. Luckily my younger two children still love to have their pictures taken and often give me the cheesiest smiles ever!

I'm not doing witl as I have so much project life to catch up on, but am loving following yours. This it what I love so much about this style of memory keeping. It's so much more meaningful and emotion filled than perfect posed family shots. I can fill up with tears just watching Anna and Chris greeting each other, so how much more poignant these moments are when it's your own family is unmeasurable. Thanks again for your sparkling inspiration to us all. Hannah :)

Some great pictures. It's interesting that Simon is getting to where he is not wanting his picture taken and feels free to express it with his hand instead of some other way.

Thinking of you today, Ali, and being amazed and humbled that you are able to do all that you do, and still deal with "life," as well. I decided not to do WITL this year, because it frustrated me so badly last year. :/ I need to work on that. Your images are so moving, and so thoughtful. I mean, they really make me fell as if I was part of your day. I love LOVE Anna's smile. And while it probably is frustrating to you, I love Simon's hand in front of his face -- it is just so typical tween! Thank you for all you do, Ali, and for all you share with us! Know that you are appreciated and so very loved!

I love how you captured your day...now if only I can do that. I struggle with taking photos and capturing the day to day events...I have no kids to document...and my husband works out of town during the week...so most days it's just me...so what do I take pictures of?
PS...love your wallet/notebook in the "driving" photo...must find out where you got it.

I just have to say that I love how adorable Simon looks in the first photo 'expressing' with his hand. So love the fact that he has his little legs wrapped around the little wooden chair and onto the ottoman. Too wonderful!

She just got that a few weeks ago and seems pretty happy with it! She decided on her own but had used my Canon 5D on and off around here and was happy with the Canons. She wanted a step-up from the Rebel version.

Ali I just want to say that I admire you as a single mom-its a tough job.My mom was one to seven of us. When I see pics of Chris I wonder if he understands all he's missing out on-just like I wondered with my own dad.Keeping you in my prayers.
