Clear Stamp Storage Ideas from Jennifer McGuire
Tags:Today I invited the amazing Jennifer McGuire to share a bit about her stamp organization. She created an awesome video sharing the system that's been working for her recently.
Crafty storage can be half the fun when it comes to paper crafts so I wanted to share with you my tips for storing clear and cling stamps. Here is a video with a closer look:
The Avery Elle Stamp Pockets are perfectly sized at approximately 7.25"x5.5" which is ideal for most clear and cling stamps. There are 25 pockets in a pack and the price is quite reasonable. You can even get cardstock inserts or can cut your own from scraps. And if you a bit obsessive about organization like me (haha), you can use a Brother Labeler to add the stamp sets name to each pocket.
There are other options for stamp pockets. You can get cd binder sleeves from Office Depot and carefully cut them down the center to create two pockets. I also like this option and the size is comparable. Another option (which is more cost effective) is to get clear 5"x8" baggies and store them in a similar way. These also work for stamp sets that are a bit taller (such as a few from Ali Edwards), but I use the 5"x8" Office Depot clear pockets.
These stamp pockets fit nicely into many shoebox sized storage containers. However, my favorite is called the "Fridge Binz" and is meant to hold soda cans. No soda in my house, but man is it perfect for stamps! This container is super durable and works with lots of other crafty storage.
Stamps featured above include: Amazing Moments, Beautiful (the arrows), and Incredible.

Love this idea. I saw on another video of yours about die cutting, that you used plastic pockets for wafer thin dies. Did the dies come in those? If not, can you tell us who makes those or where we can get them?

[...] This post about stamp organization by guest poster Jennifer McGuire at Allie Edwards’ site had the answer for me: clear pockets, 5×8″, from Office Depot. Not Staples, or Office Max, they don’t carry anything like this — I looked. Office Depot. I’m not linking to the OD site, but here are the specs: clear 5×8 inch pockets, 10 in a package, item # 181-004. Look for them in the sheet protectors section. [...]

I know this is an older post but I just wanted to say I love this system! I'm doing this to all my stamps and feel like I will use them a lot more now that they are so easily accessible! I had them in binders before and I just never wanted to dig through several binders looking for the right stamps. How do you store littler stamps like Studio G's?

I love this storage idea. I ordered the avery elle pockets. I am curious what are you using for the clear plastic? I know stamp sets come with it, but I am removing my papertrey ink sets from cd cases so I no longer have the clear plastic. I don't want to buy or use the wrong thing that will damage the stamps. I'd appreciate any help as I am anxious to switch to this storage system. Thanks for such a great idea.

I just came across this post and LOVE it! I'm not sure if I'll switch over but it is definitely an option. My question to you is this...would you recommend taking your stamp set out of their original "containers" if they are from Creative Memories and Stampin' Up. I have a lot of both "brands" and right now they are overfilling two drawers in my 3-drawer cube from JetMaxx.
The Stampin' Up containers are like DVD cases without the hub. The case, in my opinion, is rather large because the stamps themselves float around inside. The only thing the size is good for is to show the actual size of the stamp included. I'd don't believe any stamp set that I own actually fills the case.
What I don't like about them is the size and when stored vertical, you have to move the case out completely to see what's included because the sample prints are at the bottom of the case. Also, there is no label on the spine! And, they are not mounted to an acetate sheet.
Creative Memories' stamps come in a plastic envelope with a snap in the center of the back. The envelope doesn't have a sheet to show what is actually in the set. If I was to add a sample sheet to the envelope, I don't believe the images would show up well because they are somewhat opaque. Right now they are stored flat and because of their snap, they flop around in the drawer! I do believe, however, that they have an acetate sheet in the envelope that the stamps are mounted on. I like this!
What I don't like about them is that they don't layer well. That is, no matter if vertical or horizontal, they slip around and flip backwards and forwards around the snap. They are opaque and don't show what's included.
What are your thoughts?

Oh, BTW, I purchased one of the Clip It ups, a circular clothes rack of sorts but for stamps. I haven't used it yet as I don't have any sleeves to put things in. Also, it was quite expensive and I don't really think I like the idea of things revolving around a circle, and clipping and un-clipping things.
