One Little Word® 2014 | The List & The Reading Of The Words
One of the traditions I started a couple years back was to have my friend Liz Lamoreux record herself reading the words that people have left in the comments of my annual One Little Word® blog post.
She's back again this year and I'm super happy to have her.
Click below to hear her read the words (compiled from the list through Jan 2nd at 7pm):
You can hear her read the 2013 list here, the 2012 list here and the 2011 list here.
Liz is a dear friend, a wonderful retreat leader, and a jewelry designer. Check out her beautiful collection of soul mantras and other stories in her etsy shop. She made a bracelet for me this year (shown above) - love mixing it up for 2014.

Registration is still open for my workshop One Little Word® (and will remain open throughout the year). The simple premise is to make your word more visible for you throughout the year with a single, focused creative prompt at the beginning of each month. Joining up is not a huge time commitment over the course of the year and you don’t have to be into scrapbooking to participate.
Thanks, Ali! This is such an inspiring list!

Hey Ali! I'm not sure if you saw, but 52 lists is returning on Moorea-seal's blog in 2014. I saw the link in your archives, and since I'm a fan of the lists as well, I thought I would let you know! :]

I soooo love Liz's annual "reading of the words". I was thrilled to also receive my word BRAVE on a bracelet for Christmas... I didn't even know my husband listened when I rattle on about how much I love this ritual. 2014 is my 7th year doing this! :-)

Truly inspiring. I have a lot to learn from my word. I'm so happy I took the leap to OPEN up and do this. Thanks. Michelle t.

I don't know how I'm going to do this, but my word is NO. Not in a negative way, in a healthy way. I need to learn to say no.
You can read why I've chosen "no" as my word here: http://www.confessionsofafatchick.org/1/post/2013/12/learning-to-say-no.html

My word is Rebel (v.)
- I am going to rebel against the things I've cowered under for too long. I am going to stop rebelling against responsible things like brushing my teeth and doing the dishes :) and I am going to start rebelling against Fear, Hatred, Shame, Opinions, Darkness.
Rebel!

My word found me on New Year's Day. I had been searching and trying out other words for over a month. It is Bloom. This is year six for me

This is my first OLW class, very excited.
So I thought I had my word twice now. I finally realized there has been a word all along right in front of me that I just realized that I need this year.
It is Gentle.
It is a word we have been using a lot in our house lately and it finally rang true that Gentle is what I need to focus on.
The word first came when my oldest son's therapist used it. We have focused on it with him a lot this year he is 3. ALso with my 2 year old teaching him to be Gentle.
I realize I need to be Gentle with myself, the way I talk about myself. Not putting myself down.
The way I react to my kids when they are both throwing tantrums and upset.
I could go on and on. My word was in front of me all along, glad I finally saw it.

Hi Ali, I didn't see my word PASSION. ❤️

What I find interesting is that after choosing a word, if I second guess myself or think that it's not good enough, I feel it in my chest that I can't change the word - my word is my word. And, incidentally, my word for this year is health.

My word is imperfection. I feel I need to embrace being imperfect and let go of being perfect.
