Rounded Or Square?

I haven't had a ton of time to catch up (no guilt about this) on Project Life® recently but I did print out a bunch of photos from some of our adventures last week. I've been trying to print them out at the same time as I edit the photos for my blog posts - you know, that whole "one touch" thing (vs. doing one thing now and then having to come back to them all over again to print).

Which brought me to this thought: all along I've been rounding the corners. I like the look of rounded corners.

But I might be tired or rounding them. I'm thinking about not caring about that anymore (or doing it sometimes and not other times) and wondering if I can be cool with a mix of rounded cards and square photos and REALLY who cares if they are rounded or not or a mix.

So today's question to you: square, rounded, or a mix?

Hope you have an awesome weekend. I'm super excited that the Story Stamps™ will start shipping next week and I can't wait to start telling stories with many of you in the member community.

I actually don't have a preference, but I do like to have my front and back match, so if I have a card in the pocket, I will round the corners on the photo if there is one on the opposite site of the page protector.

I started out rounding all of the corners. I batch order my photos and after a year of PL, I decided it was not worth my time to round the corners of my 4x6 photos. I then began ordering my photos with white borders as well. I still round the corners of the 3x4 journaling cards, since most of them come from BH. This year, however, I have gone to doing my PL digitally and I use the BH free digital templates that also have rounded corners. I like the look of Cathy Z.'s square corners though and thinking about using those for next year. We shall see.

I don't round my photos or the hybrid journaling cards I print out, but I use a lot of cards that I have purchased that are already rounded mixed in and I am totally fine with the look of both together.

Pushed to choose, I would say I prefer square corners. Day to day? Don't care. If it's stuck down and the story is captured, it's good.

Under no circumstances ever are Simon and Anna going to look at those albums and go "Geesh, Mom, did you just not care enough to make this uniform and perfect?" And if on that cold cold day that DID happen, you wouldn't care about the corners, you would be worried that they are putting too much on themselves in their own lives to be reflecting that kind of anxiety. Do what makes you happy for now and Go Ali Go :)

I live dangerously and mix them, sometimes even on the same page. I always put rounded back to back, but sometimes there is a mix of rounded and square in the same layout.

This is what I do as well @slmpetersen. I like how you phrased it as "living dangerously." :-)

I feel like I'm majorly in the minority but I always round my corners. This perhaps has something to do with my slight OCD and everything needs to be the same. If I'm putting the pictures in the album, they are square for a while until I can go round them but the finished product must be rounded!

See, I'm kinda like this too. But I'm fatigued of rounding I think :).

I literally had this conversation in my head yesterday as I was working on PL. And no guilt here either, btw. I am way behind. Hello week 3. Yeah that's right, I'm that far behind. I had laid out most of my spreads with photos through February and some of March and fell behind but rather than quit I decided I can do this and I want to. So my album will be a lovely mix of weekly spreads + monthly spreads in order to make it do-able for me. I love that I can adjust it to work for me and not feel like I'm doing it wrong. So all this to say, I started rounding my corners so everything was consistent but I want to do whatever and let go of everything having to 'match'. For me, it's a good practice of letting go of too much precision (perfectionism) and just going with whatever. And I'm totally ok with it. So now I have some square photos with rounded cards and it's perfectly fine. A mix of both.

I like your decision to do what works. I am a bit behind, and also found I didn't take tons of photos over summer break, so I decided to just do a "summer break" section and printed the photos I wanted and didn't worry how many spreads it filled (it only filled 3 1/2 spreads, and that's okay!).

I like having everything the same, but I create all of my own journal cards and print them when the photos get printed so I never have any purchased pre-rounded cards in my book. I like the clean lines that come from straight edges and i don't like the "windows" that rounded corners create, giving a glimpse to pages below. HOWEVER, if we could get past our own preferences, the truth is that our family and friends don't look at our books with judgement. They look at them with a welcoming, loving heart.

so true!! I'm trying to let it go and just get it done. Our families love them either way!

This is my first year doing PL. I have been debating this myself, I haven't rounded any photos, but have plenty of rounded cards, and personally I think it looks kind of messy seeing square corners on the next page from behind the rounded corners, but still not sure I can bring myself to round everything. I think I'm going to leave it alone and try not to worry, I have bigger things in life to deal with, LOL!

Square. If a person wants them rounded they can use a corner rounder. There's no option for those of us who prefer square since everything Project Life is already rounded. Thanks for asking!

It's a pain to round every corner, and the project is more fun for me if I just keep it square and don't worry about it.

I like them rounded, but I didn't do it at all in the beginning, so my album is now a mix.
Plus, the PL cards are all rounded, so on those pages where I use core kit cards, I'm more likely to round them.

I tried to force myself to be okay with rounded corners or even mixing...and I'm just not. It always bothered me. I like straight...which is sometimes sad because there are so many cute rounded cards:)

Another vote for mixed, the only thing that I like to make sure is that the the card/photo on the "back side" is the same (rounded or square) I really can't condone square on one side and rounded on the other, too messy :)

I do both. I want a rounded corner if the back side of the protector that a card is in has a rounded card. But like for photos of a Facebook post, where it is usually an exchange of conversation, I prefer the corners to stay square. I try to back those with a similar squared corner card or photo.

Rounded, and they need to be the same "round" so I re-cut the 3x4 cards if needed. Obsess much?!?! Bwahahah!!!

It depends on my photos; if I print them with a border, I prefer square. If no border, I will usually round the corners for added interest. I also use a combination of both square and rounded 3x4 filler/journal cards.

I have to round my corners. I just like how uniformed it looks. I don't have much consistency in my album so its nice to have at least that continuance element.

I do square. I don't own a corner rounder, and I like how the square corners make the photos seem to fill up more of the visual space on the page. I think a mix could look nice, but maybe not so much if there's a non-rounded card behind a rounded one. :)

I like the "let them party together" view. Some of the cards I have just look better squared. I round *most* of my photos or mattes for smaller photos, but those that have a border or those that I prints as multiple photos per 4x6 I feel look better square. The stories and images are the most important thing!
