Rounded Or Square?
Tags:
I haven't had a ton of time to catch up (no guilt about this) on Project Life® recently but I did print out a bunch of photos from some of our adventures last week. I've been trying to print them out at the same time as I edit the photos for my blog posts - you know, that whole "one touch" thing (vs. doing one thing now and then having to come back to them all over again to print).
Which brought me to this thought: all along I've been rounding the corners. I like the look of rounded corners.
But I might be tired or rounding them. I'm thinking about not caring about that anymore (or doing it sometimes and not other times) and wondering if I can be cool with a mix of rounded cards and square photos and REALLY who cares if they are rounded or not or a mix.
So today's question to you: square, rounded, or a mix?
Hope you have an awesome weekend. I'm super excited that the Story Stamps™ will start shipping next week and I can't wait to start telling stories with many of you in the member community.

I used to round things so it matched, but now I don't care one bit.

This is my first year doing PL. I have been debating this myself, I haven't rounded any photos, but have plenty of rounded cards, and personally I think it looks kind of messy seeing square corners on the next page from behind the rounded corners, but still not sure I can bring myself to round everything. I think I'm going to leave it alone and try not to worry, I have bigger things in life to deal with, LOL!

Square. If a person wants them rounded they can use a corner rounder. There's no option for those of us who prefer square since everything Project Life is already rounded. Thanks for asking!

It's a pain to round every corner, and the project is more fun for me if I just keep it square and don't worry about it.

I like them rounded, but I didn't do it at all in the beginning, so my album is now a mix.
Plus, the PL cards are all rounded, so on those pages where I use core kit cards, I'm more likely to round them.

I tried to force myself to be okay with rounded corners or even mixing...and I'm just not. It always bothered me. I like straight...which is sometimes sad because there are so many cute rounded cards:)

Another vote for mixed, the only thing that I like to make sure is that the the card/photo on the "back side" is the same (rounded or square) I really can't condone square on one side and rounded on the other, too messy :)

I do both. I want a rounded corner if the back side of the protector that a card is in has a rounded card. But like for photos of a Facebook post, where it is usually an exchange of conversation, I prefer the corners to stay square. I try to back those with a similar squared corner card or photo.

Rounded, and they need to be the same "round" so I re-cut the 3x4 cards if needed. Obsess much?!?! Bwahahah!!!

It depends on my photos; if I print them with a border, I prefer square. If no border, I will usually round the corners for added interest. I also use a combination of both square and rounded 3x4 filler/journal cards.

Rounded, love rounded. Unless of course I have a white border printed, then I stick to square. :)

I have to round my corners. I just like how uniformed it looks. I don't have much consistency in my album so its nice to have at least that continuance element.

I do square. I don't own a corner rounder, and I like how the square corners make the photos seem to fill up more of the visual space on the page. I think a mix could look nice, but maybe not so much if there's a non-rounded card behind a rounded one. :)

I like the "let them party together" view. Some of the cards I have just look better squared. I round *most* of my photos or mattes for smaller photos, but those that have a border or those that I prints as multiple photos per 4x6 I feel look better square. The stories and images are the most important thing!

I have to admit to getting tired of rounding all the corners of my photos, especially when I have a lot to do at once. But I do like the look and like the front and back to match, within the same pocket. I finally bought the PL corner rounder and REALLY like that it contains the cut off pieces so I can empty it now and then and not have all these little bits falling to the floor and making a mess. I think whatever floats your boat, do it.

At first glance, the rounded version is more striking; especially allowing a bit more of a view through to underlying pages. However, your ability to just turn the corners loose, very admirable as well. So for looks, the rounded corners are my preference, but it's YOUR lifestyle. I guess that puts me on the fence for "a mix." ;) <@>

I have been rounding because I do not like the look on the next page when I use a PL card that is rounded. Its a pain in the butt... If I saw a kit with square corners, I could totally get on board with no rounded but for me its either or, not a mix!

If I could have square all the way that would make me so happy. When I first started, I used to dread the task of going through and rounding all the corners. Then I started using a Polaroid look with white borders and it just looked better squared to me. Really wish there were more options for cards with squared corners. But, this year I have been doing better at incorporating more cards with rounded corners and I'm okay with it. Done is better than perfect. Seriously, I used to primarily get the digital versions just so when I trimmed out cards I would have them squared. Photos: love them squared. Cards: prefer squared in my layouts but I'm liking the rounded more as I use them. It's just so much easier to grab a card versus printing out and trimming and all that mess. I do try to match up the rounded ones but it doesn't always work. Please tell me your story kit will be squared! That would be perfect!
Sometimes I wonder if they had all started squared if it would be the "trend" to round them. I guess I'm weird but I think of things like that. Do I do it because I like it or just to be different? Or just b/c I'm lazy?
And by the way, your layouts are beautiful either way, so I say do what makes you happy! Try out the squared corners and then if in 6 months it is really bugging you, grab the corner rounder and have a party! Either way actually looks good to me although for me, I love it squared.

So funny that you should post on this today. I am also catching up on PL. This is my 5th year of it and I've NEVER rounded the corners; just didn't want to take the time. But on my album this year, I decided to do it and I'm loving it! I bought the Color Me kit from QVC and I think because it has so many smaller cards and there are SO many more rounded corners, it looks better with the pictures rounded. Will I do it in future years? probably not, but for this year it's a nice change.
