Week In The Life™ 2025 | Ali's Monday
Tags:Welcome to Week In The Life™ 2025!
I'm mixing things up a bit this year and giving myself space to live my full day before diving into editing/sharing all my photos.
MONDAY PROJECT OBSERVATIONS
It's so fun to be diving into this project again. This is my 20th year capturing a week in my life.
I used a combination of my DSLR and my phone for taking photos. In most cases my phone simply felt easier and, like many of you out there, I'm all for finding ease in the effort.
I also found myself being judgy about the photos I was taking throughout the day (I think part of this was that I'm out of practice using my big camera around the house). I felt like that until I uploaded them all and looked at them together as a day and felt excited all over again. There’s a whole lot of beauty in our everyday when we take the time to notice - no matter what camera you are using.
For journaling this year I'm using the journal and I loved it. You can see what that looked like at the bottom of this post. I'm not "crafting" inside the notebook - I'm just using it as a home for my words.
I also tried something new for editing my photos last night in an effort to not be sitting at my desk in the evening right before bed. For Monday I tried doing it from my iPad using Photos for very simple edits - it was working well until I tried to upload to this post and my photos were too big and I was too tired to figure out how to change the size of my photos on my iPad in order to upload them here (that will be a task for tonight). I ended up being able to share the album from my iPad to my computer this morning and then resize in Photoshop.
At the end of the day and this morning, my overwhelming feeling for this project continues to be gratitude. It's so worth it.
This project doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful.
Tuesday is an awesome day to implement what you might have learned yesterday. Maybe you want more or less photos. Maybe you want more or less words. Maybe you just want to take photos and fill in the words later. Maybe you took a whole lot of flower photos yesterday and today you are going to look for something else.
My wish for you (and me) today is a little more heart and a lot more fun.
Here’s a look at my Monday in photos with some "right now" thoughts included:
Right now it's all about the roses.
Today she invited me to do a TikTok.

So many interesting compositions and lovely lighting variations. I especially love that you took photos of yourself taking photos.

Can I just say a big THANK YOU for being honest about being judgmental of your photos. I love yours and was feeling the same about mine, judging them! But since I reframed it as 'this IS life right now' a switch got flipped!

Love your journal....and if I had better writing, I would do that too - lol. I'm on year 12 of WITL! :) I'm usually more "on top" of putting things together, but struggling this year...hopefully it'll all come together in the end. :) Your pictures are great...as always!!

Your blog posts are my favorite part of the documenting week. Every year I stress I don't take enough photos each day, ha when I average 60-80, and then go to put the album together with too many options ha :)

Love the photo angles - you captured a lot!
Also, you’ve inspired me to claim an end of our dining table for drawing/painting. A bit in the morning and a bit before bed. Love the feeling :)

Your roses are gorgeous, but my favorite shot is the solo one of BETTY playing! =) That one just makes me smile.

I love your photos...I wish I could get the hang of taking photos of myself doing things like you have, e.g., your work in the garden. Maybe an updated photo class?
