As I sit here and think about what I want to say about this past weekend at CKU-A in San Jose, I feel like I end up saying the same thing every time. It is truly an amazing experience to meet so many women who passionately love life art as much as I do. This time I kept getting all emotional about it - it is just such a special experience.
The women in my album track were phenomenal. Everyone was ready and willing to play and get to work bringing together a bunch of random elements from a week in their life into one BIG album. One of the coolest things I experience each time is the recognition on the faces of the women in the track that their everydays are important. That there is so much there in "regular" life - whatever that may be for them.
To the women who shared this experience with me: thank you so much for being open, for sharing your stories with me, for laughing at my jokes, for your enthusiasm and passion, for your hardwork and willingness to step outside of your comfort zone, and your overall kindness. Thanks for being mellow and making friends with the people at your table - one of my favorite things is watching those friendships develop. Love you guys.
And to the dinner crew Dona, Cathy, Dan, Tara, Em, Elsie, Grace, Shannon, Carrie, and Ana - so, so much fun at that dinner. Loved hanging with everyone. Loved just being in the same place as everyone.
As for me, I am home today to work on some assignments and then I leave for Salt Lake tomorrow for a week of meetings. Gotta plan out some AWESOME stuff for the magazine for next year. Get ready to continue to be educated, empowered and inspired.

I totally agree...I think this may have been one of the best cku eperiences yet...and REALLY think about adding those Chris Edwards tees to the Cafe Press shop!!

This was my first CKU and it was such a great experience! Thank you Ali for putting together an amazing album track. I'm on Thursday..almost done :)

thank you, ali! it was an experience i will never forget. for me, there were so many elements that just clicked for me, hanging out in the chill atmosphere you provided, and just got into my own groove. and yes, thank you for allowing me to finally get that YES, a sahm's daily stuff of life is IMPORTANT! this was the first something "about me" and it was about time! you are such an inspiration, girl!

Your track was amazing, it was my 1st CKU and I had the best time. This album has inspired me so much already and I'm sure it will continue to. I actually got it done except for a few embellishments which I will add tonight. I so enjoyed being able to get the album completed while I was there. Sacrificed some sleep, but who cares about that. Thank you for all of your hard work to make CKU an amazing experience.

Ali, I had the best time in your album track! I had never been to a CKU before, so it was all fun, but I just so appreciate your willingness to look at scrapbooking in an artful way. I feel totally inspired and excited to finish my week in the life (almost done with Thursday). I loved the nametags you made for us, too--how awfully nice you are to take the time to do that. Thanks so much!
