Clear Scraps Giveaway
Tags:Today's giveaway is sponsored by Clear Scraps. They recently generously donated some product for an upcoming benefit class/make + take I am doing in Southern Oregon. These are my four favorite products in their clear mini-book line-up:
6x6 Tab Album (5 pages, 3 ring)
All Mixed-Up (6 pages, 3 ring)
Scalloped Square Album (5 pages, 3 ring)
8x8 Tab Album (5 pages, 3 ring)
Here's a recent minibook I did that was featured in my Studio A column in the August issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine using the Scalloped Square Album:
Notice the square punch + corner rounder again?
For this album I used paint as an adhesive. I ran the outer edges of the squares through some paint and laid them down onto the acrylic. It definitely smears as you push it down, but that was part of the fun. I used much more paint on the transparent pieces and less on the photos (the photos are backed with other photos allowing me to adhere them to the acrylic album).
[ supplies : album: Clear Scraps; transparencies: Hambly Studios; paint and tiny alpha letter stickers: Making Memories, "the easter egg is pretty:" vintage ]
I have two sets of these four albums to giveaway. To be entered into the drawing leave a comment below and let me know what layout/project have you been putting off and why. Comments will be closed today (Thursday) at 5pm Pacific and the winners announced shortly after.

I actually have a LIST of projects I'd like to get started/finished with. I try to have the papers & pictures collected together so when I have the chance to work on it, I can. I usually have to wait for a crop or a long weekend. I do hesitate in getting started because I'm scared I'd mess something up (a 'perfection' issue) or I don't have everything together for a project.

Hi Ali!! I have been putting off scrapping photos of me - I am just not happy wiht the way they look and REFUSE to believe that I have gained weight! On the other hand, as my BFF pointed out, if I scrap them now I will look back on them and sya one of two things:"Oh look, that was back when I only had double chin instead of the 3 I have now" OR... "Yup, all that money for plastic surgery was definately worth it!"

I can't seem to finish anything lately. I am trying to organize each project in a 12x12 box, keeping it all together seems to help me. I probably have 6-8 unfinished projects and that's just scrapbook related. I have 10 frames that need photos in them...sigh....
Love the album by the way.

Hi Ali! My husband won a big poker tournament almost two years ago now, and he really wants me to make an album of it. I've been putting it off because I know it will be a huge undertaking-- scanning newspaper articles, collection congratulatory e-mails from friends, etc. Also, I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around how to scrap a poker tournament...

I have been putting off finishing my book on my recent trip to florida / disney world. I think because I took way too many photos, and I'm experiencing a creative block!

Well, my husband and I went to Europe for 10 days in 2004 and I just have never gotten around to scrapbooking it. I think it is the sheer volume that was daunting. Now, it is the worry of having already forgotten some of the stories. Lesson learned I suppose.

Ali, I have no idea how you find the time to read all of these!!
I have been putting off making a scrapbook of our family reunion from two years ago. Every four years, my dad's side of the family has a week long reunion at a cabin in Colorado. It would be such a great thing to scrap because there are so many children and cousins, etc. who change so much over four years. I'd love to bring a scrapbook of the last reunion to the next one in two years. We had about 50 people attend last time, so I have TONS of pictures... and that makes it all a bit overwhelming.
On another note, to all the people who said they are dreading scrapping their wedding... I am working on my photos as we speak. I was overwhelmed too, not wanting to mess up all my great professional photos. So I decided to do a memory book on iPhoto which will look more traditional, has a hard cover and was much quicker to put together. Then I am taking all my memorbilia (speeches, garter, etc..) and all my cute snapshot photos from the bachelorette party, wedding morning, rehearsal dinner, etc. and am scrapping those since they seem a lot less intimidating and there are a lot of stories to tell with each of those events. Anyway, I know this is not what Ali asked for, but I just wanted to get it out there for all you wedding album procrastinators like me! Hope it helps.
Thanks Ali,
Stephanie
PS: Sorry that was so long!

I've been putting off completing a mini-album about my grandpa (who passed away just over a year ago). I'm just not sure I could do him/it justice.

I've been putting off a book of firsts for my son. He's almost a year old. I have found that I can accomplish more at night when everyone is asleep. The only problem is by that time, I'm exhausted.
I love these clear mini books. They're so versatile!

Thanks for the RAK!!

It's the photos from our Disneyland trip more than TWO years ago. There are just so many that the task seems daunting. Not sure how to get it started. But we would like to go again soon so I had better figure it out before then.

I have been putting off my wedding album for the past three years, just about the time I really started scrapbooking. I knew I would become more creative and my skills would improve so I didn't want to do it and be unhappy with it later. At this point I need to just get it done and be happy with the process...it does not need to be perfect (just like how the wedding was- awesome, but not perfect).

I find myself spinning in circles because I just dont know what to start first...I have put off so much the list is endless. How much time do you have? I guess a project that I would really like to get to soon is scrapping a trip to Ireland to where I completed the Dublin Marathon as a fundraiser for Team in Training...oh in 2001!!!!! Yeah I am a little behind!!
The fact that I actually finished is a miracle in itself but what made the trip so special is that my dad at the last minute came with our group- the marathon was just a couple weeks after 9-11 and I was completely terrified of flying and being out of the county and thought of bailing out even after the 6 months of training. My dad- bless his amazing soul- said he would come with me- knowing that if I had him there I would feel safe and be able to complete the race. And I did- all thanks to him. Its a day I will never forget....but I would like to scrap it to bring those memories back to life again.

I've been putting off a mini album of my son's first year- pictures of him each month with the same teddy bear. And he just turned three! I just want to make sure I do it justice, so I haven't done it yet.

I've been putting off doing 2 baby albums. I do them generic and haven't decided what size yet. I have most of the papers and embellishment. They are for baby shower presents. Wow I would love to be one of the lucky stampers to win this sweet giveaway. Thanks for letting me play along.

I have an album and a ton of items to include in a book about our home. We keep making changes/renovations and I'm afraid that if I start it I'll need to change the set up of the album along with it. But I don't want to wait until after we leave this house either!
