One Little Word 2009 & Giveaways
Tags:I am so excited to embark on a new word for 2009.
My word is nurture.
For me, especially with a new baby on the way within the next month or so, I have been thinking a lot about nurturing. It's such a soft, slow, gentle word.
There are many things in my life I would like to focus on nurturing this coming year. Our new baby girl. Simon and the transition to big brotherhood. My relationship with Chris. Photography. Patience. My business & this blog.
I am also going to be conscious of nurturing myself during this time of major transition in our lives.
There is something very special about this word for me. It represents slowing down, simplifying, and pinpointing what is really important to me in my life (not just the next 365 days). I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to what is to come.
The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. As I stated in my newsletter back in January 2007, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."
Also from that same newsletter:
I can't wait to see all the words for 2009.
To celebrate the new year I have three very special giveaways - all directly related to this project. Two beautiful pieces of jewelry and one piece of art to celebrate your word.

What a wonderful way to celebrate our words. My word is 'Lighten'. I want to lighten what I have - not buy so many scrapbooking supplies and use what I have. I want to lighten my lusciousness - lose some weight and get healthier. I want to lighten my reactions - not jump at my kids and be lighter when receiving bad news. I love the idea of a necklace to carry this word with me and remind me of what I need to aspire to in 2009.

I chose Achieve for 2008 which I will continue to keep in mind for the new year. There are still many things I would like to accomplish for 2009, so I might use Accomplish as my word, but I am also drawn to the word Nurture. We'll see. Have a Happy New Year!

First time to post and I'm really nervous about my word, but I'm going for it. ME! My family has recently moved to a new state and I've gotten the opportunity to stay-at-home with my boys, so its time to redefine who I am now, so my word is ME! It may be selfish, but its time to focus on "Mommy Extraordinaire", ME.
I'm loving this blog thing!

I'm wavering between several words... the first one that came to mind is "evolve." I want to evolve -- change aspects of my fitness and financial health this year. Another word is "acceptance" -- acceptance of who I am and of others; acceptance of what I can change and what I cannot.
Another word I'm considering is "hope." Not because of Barack Obama, either. :-) Hope for change, hope for the health of my mother and father (and husband, son, in-laws, self, etc), and continued hope in love and a healing of a marital relationship. One more word under consideration: "Balance." Trying to balance life, work, family, chores, hobbies, health and fitness, mental and physical balance.
Happy New Year to you! It will be such an exciting for you and your family!

I just love your word!! It's perfect!!
I am still thinking of my word...I have a few in mind but I am not going to make my decision until tonight!!
Some of the things that I am thinking about for the new year are spending less & saving more so that we can get a house of our own next year, working harder to obtain my creating goals, and stopping to enjoy life with my husband!
Enjoy your New Years!
Hugs,
Heather V

ACCOMPLISH..... It sounds grand and strong but has many meanings for me. I want to accomplish my goals of finishing projects that have been started but never finished. I want my children to experience the satisfaction of an accomplishment that is GRAND for them like riding a bike, hitting a home run, acting in a play. I want to help them accomplish their DREAMS.

How does one choose just one word? I'm still narrowing mine down. I just can't quite capture what my heart is telling me.

2008 has been a pretty decent year. My word was "blessed" because I wanted to remind myself that I am blessed by God in ALL times - good and hard.
for 2009, I'm pretty sure I will pick GLORIFY. I want to glorify Him in all I do no matter what the circumstances.

I am trying to be more patient with my family so my word for 2009 may be patience, but I am still thinking about it. I want to be more creative in 2009 and want more time to create. Hmmmm.... not sure what my word will be yet....

My word is "KINDNESS"
So simple. I think the world would be a better place if we would all treat each other a little better.

Hi Ali!
It's the final showdown of the year and I want to thank you again for the work you're doing. I love to draw inspiration from you and your approach to life.
My word for 2009 will be Contentment. After years of wanting to have everything, be everything, do everything I wish for I realized, that it's not getting me anywhere. And in times where people all around the world suffer from hunger and die of illnesses that are so easy to cure I feel that I do have so much and have already achieved everything I wanted for my life: I have a dear husband and two wonderful and cute children! I love my family and enjoy the time we spend together!
In 2009 I will be more aware of the things I have instead of those I don't have.
I wish you a happy new year!
Thank you,
Elisabeth from Austria

I haven't 100% decided on a word yet, but I think it may be GRACE or DO or BE. Can I choose 3 words? :) Happy New Year!
