One Little Word 2009 & Giveaways
Tags:I am so excited to embark on a new word for 2009.
My word is nurture.
For me, especially with a new baby on the way within the next month or so, I have been thinking a lot about nurturing. It's such a soft, slow, gentle word.
There are many things in my life I would like to focus on nurturing this coming year. Our new baby girl. Simon and the transition to big brotherhood. My relationship with Chris. Photography. Patience. My business & this blog.
I am also going to be conscious of nurturing myself during this time of major transition in our lives.
There is something very special about this word for me. It represents slowing down, simplifying, and pinpointing what is really important to me in my life (not just the next 365 days). I am nervous and excited and so looking forward to what is to come.
The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. As I stated in my newsletter back in January 2007, "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."
Also from that same newsletter:
I can't wait to see all the words for 2009.
To celebrate the new year I have three very special giveaways - all directly related to this project. Two beautiful pieces of jewelry and one piece of art to celebrate your word.

Simplify... my life - say no a little bit more and yes to those things that are really important. Make the process easy - don't make things more complicated than they have to be.
Happy New Year!

My word is "health". I'm working on healing from foot surgery nine months ago and not being able to use my foot at all or exercise. Here's to a healthy '09 and making good health choices!
(And here's to a healthy, beautiful baby girl for you Ali!)

Hi Ali!
I'm so excited to get started with my new word...it is FOCUS and each letter of my word has a special significance. F is for family, O is for organization, C is for Celebrate, U is for unfinished projects (as in...finish some!), and S is for self. These are the areas of my life that I want to focus on and be aware of as I journey through the year.
Focus will also remind me to focus on my life through the lens of my camera as I study and complete my photography course with NYI!
I'm energized and ready to FOCUS!

My word was unexpected to me but it makes a lot of sense and is perhaps what I needed my word to be last year- Healthy. Healthy body, Healthy home, Healthy bank balance. I'm excited about it.

My word is purpose. I want to make sure, this year, that I am doing things for/with purpose rather than rushing through or squesking by.

BALANCE...a new year's resolution for the past few years has been to find balance in my life. Maybe if it's my word and my focus for the year, I will be more successful. Love the work of all 3 artists. Lisa Leonard is a personal fave!

My word for 2008 was CHANGE and boy did I get what I asked for!!!! Now, at the end of 2008 I´m sitting here with my own buisness and all what comes with it. I had no idea that this would get me so far...
So picking a new word for me is almost a little intimitidating since I don´t know where to end up at the end of 2009.
I decided to pick creativity for my 2009 word - with all that comes with it! I´m really inspired by Kelley Rae Roberts book "Taking flight", aiming for a more creative way of living. I´m really excited with what this might have in store for me this year.
Winning or not - I find your blog a true inspiration for me and belonging to one of the few I regular visit for inspiration. God bless you and your family - hope you have a fantastic year 2009!

Well 1 word would just be "Embrace" but I'm also going with a phrase La Dolce Vita (the good life ) in Italian. so I will "Embrace" "The Good Life" in 2009.

Hmmm.... I'm not totally sure yet, but I think it might be FOCUS for 2009. I seem to get off track easily lately. That causes me stress because I haven't stayed with the things that need to be finished or I've allowed myself to FOCUS on things that aren't really important...
