Threethingsjan14

This week we are taking a peek at a couple Valentine/Love related products. Look for another round of three next week - there are just too many cool things out there for creating projects that celebrate those you love.

• Thinking a little tiny bit about Valentine projects (must be all the pink). Planning to use my new "Loving Stamps" from Technique Tuesday on something Valentine related. You can also pick up a similar digital version called "Loving Life Word Art." You can download the new Technique Tuesday 2009 Winter Supplement (pdf)
to see the entire line of stamps (or go here).

• Speaking of Valentine's, one of my favorite product lines from CHA last summer
(the big Craft & Hobby show) was from Little Yellow Bicycle called "Love Letters." I love the cardstock stickers (shown above),

• This wonderful print that is going to hang somewhere in my house (maybe in the baby's room or a bathroom) from isophotography (found via poppytalk handmade). It would make a great gift for a loved one.

• And one more lovey thing I couldn't resist this week: little love notes tickets from Making Memories.

I don't have family of my own so I usually celebrate Valentine's by getting a lovely chocolate bundle for my mom and make some kind of Valentine's craft with chocolate for my niece and nephews...its great to share love in ways broader than the tv commercials lead us to think in

I usually make a special card for my husband & recall a silly story or event in the card. I think he looks forward to it. Either way I enjoy making them for him : )

most of the time we spend valentines day as a family, our anniversary is 10 days later, so V day isn't really huge. I do love a box of moonstruck chocolate though!

We go to my boyfriends Grandma's house. She always has something going on for any holiday. Loves to get the family together for any occasion. She's the best.

My guy and I try to stay away from all the commercialized Valentine's day hype and focus more on just spending time with each other. We usually plan a night in for just the two of us, and we each get each other something small, just a token, to exchange. ^^

I usually try to find one of the pizza places that sell heart shaped pizzas! And make heart shaped cookies for the family.

I always make a special valentine, of course. Last year I made my husband and my son your awesome felt book. I love it. My son (17) thought it was great-how cute is that?
This year I want to make a little canvas for my son with the quote from "Guess How Much I Love You?" (love that book) that says, "I love you to the moon AND back."

My hubby usually brings me red roses. The lavender ones are my favorite and if he can find those that's what he brings home. I usually make a Vday card and find a special gift for him. I pretend that I don't know what he wants but I always listen for hints. Still thinking of a special gift for this year though.

I always set a festive table with little treats for each of m kids. When they wake up and come downstairs they find it all waiting for them. It is a great way to start the day. we eat a lot of red, pink foods and hearts are everywhere. Too much fun!

I spend the day making it "lovely" for my family. I start with breakfast making everything heart shaped...toast....pancakes....cards and treats at the breakfast table. Then it's usually a yummy red dinner, spaghetti and meatballs and a heart shaped dessert...brownies or cupcakes...most importantly I try to make the day special for my husband and kiddos...the ones I love the most!!!

    I love valentine's day!

My son is 2.5 and last year we started a tradition where we make Daddy a card and then some heart shaped rice krispy treats with peanut butter on top and surprise him with them when he gets home from work. He loves them and Caleb loves helping out his Mommy :)

When the girls were younger we'd have fun little love gifts all together in the living room before dinner---something sweet they'd been eying (not just candy). My husband likes buying me comfy lacy tank tops, or leopard print jammies. I love getting him a favorite cd or something else he's wanted. We've made heart shaped pizzas together as a family, I've made heart shaped cake for dessert, and often have a romantic dinner here at home. Now that both girls live away from home, it's become even more romantic! Last year we gave them Across the Universe movie dvds. We also often make cards to give to family with either painted hearts & last year we used a tripod & took some steamy love photos next to a graffiti wall downtown & played with those in photoshop! Truly one of my favorite holidays (possibly because it's just 3 days before my birthday!!)

Usually we just ignore it. We were both too scarred from years of working in the restaurant industry and catering to everyone else on Valentine's day to be able to enjoy it ourselves...but this year? Maybe time to enjoy it...:)

It would be hard to beat last year when we gave our 3 kids Valentine cards with picture clues and an announcement we were going on a trip (to Disneyland). Normally we just try to enjoy some heart shaped pizza or cookies.

Two of our fave traditions around here are making and decorating heart-shaped sugar cookies and the heart-shaped fruit juice jigglers I make as part of our Valentine's Day dinner.

Haven't had any great ideas beyond the "normal" stuff in the past, but I am planning to read all your comments, so maybe this year will be a really special Valentine's Day!!

No matter how hectic the morning of Valentine's Day is, we dig out our big heart shaped cookie cutter and make heart shaped toast, pancakes, or eggs - depending on what is on the menu for the day. The first year we did this, my (then) 8 year old stepson wanted to make heart shaped oatmeal :)

I LOVE Valentine's Day! We don't really have any specific thing we do, other than having dinner at a special restaurant where we've gone since we were dating. It's not usually on the actual date, since my husband's usually working, but we make sure to celebrate on another date. This year I've got some fun little goodies together for our girls (ages 2 and 8 months) and I'm working on a special something for my hubby. Thanks for sharing!

With 1800 people chiming in I'm sure I won't win but I always make my husband's favorite dinner - pizza, salad and Pepsi - and set a romantic table with our china and we have a low key dinner just chatting and enjoying being together. We also usually make each other a gift instead of buying something. It's always so fun to see what the other person comes up with!
