Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Thanks for this awesome opportunity to think about my "superhero power"... It's easy for women to think that we aren't strong, smart, good at something. I think my power would be endurance, which happens to be my word for the year. I have endured many things in my life and looking back I think that I have done pretty well considering. It's the way we do the enduring that matters, so make sure it's how you want to be remembered... Thanks again for this reminder to all of us.

According to my kids I am the best brownie maker! Maybe that could be my super power?? Also, almost every day, my 3 year old says "you are the best mommy ever", so I think that could be my super power, too.
Love the jewelry and thanks for the opportunity to win.

My power is making babies and childrens smile. I work in a childrens store, so we get a lot of kids in, in all kinds of moods. but I have the ability, to matter what mood they are in to make them smile.

My superhero power is empathy. I'm a mom of a toddler and a teenager who has Aspergers...and I teach special education. I could not do my job as a parent or teacher if I wasn't able to put myself in others' shoes and understand what they are thinking and feeling. It makes me a much more patient and understanding person.

This is fun - thinking about me as a superhero ~~~ I can multi task , take on lots of projects and get them all done ! It was noticed by a friend who I work with - she was so sweet and put it in an email so I printed it out and have it in my wallet for the days I feel I can't do it - her email will pick me up !!!
Love the contest today ~ cool stuff !!!

Funny, thinking about a superpower brought tears to my eyes...why does acknowledging our own good sometimes come so difficultly?
That said, my superpower is organization. I can tell you my family's schedule, what is for dinner, when to start it, who has a project due, what I need to grade/prep for school, and where every item we own in the house is within a small margin of error. It's both a blessing and a curse...

I think my superpower is making people laugh during tough situations. After my dad has triple bypass surgery, I made him laugh instead of letting him feel pitiful. Making him laugh right after surgery was a bit painful (for him) but it made him feel better.

My superpower: I am the multi-tasking queen. Can do, like, ten things at once. Seriously! I get that from my Mom.

Beautiful jewelry! I'm super good at organizing (when I'm in the mood), making order out of chaos. I'm also pretty good at first impressions which I consider a superpower and a gift.

I'm a really good sounding board for my teenage sons. My 17-year-old told me the other day, "I've always felt like I won the parent lottery." !!! Made me cry, of course. :-)

I would have to say that my superpower is being organized. I love to organize things and at times think that I would enjoy that as a job!!

Thanks for sharing another great product with us!
I love the superhero concept. I'm a fourth grade teacher, and I think I may just have to ask all of them to share their superpower with the class...
I think my superpower is organization. I can organize anything and I LOVE doing it. I'm good at seeing the goal in my head and figuring out how to get there.

Ali, this is a great contest today, making us recognize ourselves and giving our positives a voice. I think that my superpower is giving people the benefit of the doubt. I both make an effort and it comes naturally for me to not judge, to listen before forming an opinion, I am very proud of that. Thanks, Lisa

Oh powers . . .
I speak my truth.
It's not always pleasant,
frequently dangerous,
but it's a calling.
Truth is power.
and
