Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

I like to think my superpower is sometimes taking a great picture of my family... capturing those little moments that we know won't be around forever. It's a little piece saved for eternity. Great giveaway!

My superpower would be as a healer I guess. I have been a nurse for 25 years and have found that I can help diffuse most conflicts at work and with patients. I wish it were something more dramatic

As I sit here at work, (just jumped online briefly) with 'crazy' all around me and ponder what I am good at. It hits me, I am truly great at my job. I manage a customer service department for an herbal manufacturing company. As most of you know, customer service can be a difficult job dealing with so many different personalities and such. But to be honest, I know that God has given me the gift to be very good at what I do. It seems to come naturally to me. I am 'Super-Customer Service Woman'. (at your service)
By the way, the jewelry is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for the opportunity to possible win this.

Wow. Tough question. My husband's mom has one of the superpowers that I most admire, which is the ability to make anyone feel welcome and to connect with them. For years I've been trying to develop this ability. So it's a "budding superpower."

WOW - I am in love with that necklace! My superpower is being able to see things from someone else's point of view - you know, to put myself in their shoes.

With 3 kids a husband 2 dogs and a cat, I am the only person in the house that knows where "things" are. I can find anything. I think I automatically make little mental notes all day long:) They also call me eagle-eye Because I can spot lost items a mile away!

Empathy. My empathy for others is like jet fuel. I can quickly zero in to their sadness or their happiness or their needs, in real time.
And I have keen instincts on how to respond. But what's important is this:
I know I am blessed to have this superpower and
It gets better and richer as I get older.

my superpower is silly... I am a "super parking spot finder". Perfect example... every year we go to our small town parade and EVERY year we always get a spot in this parking lot (with not more than 10 parking spots) that is right next to Main St., steps from where we always sit and watch the parade. When ever we have gone with other people they have ended up having to walk 15 mins or so from their parking spot. It happens other places, too. I am known in my family for my luck with parking. =}

my superpower is remaining flexible. when things change in life or work or with friends, i tend not to dwell on how it was or could have been. i learned that a long time ago and it has eased so much stress out of my life.

My superhero moment (as some have said...I'm start to think maybe they are right) caring for my elderly Grandma who suffers from dementia.
She raised me as best as she knew how.
It's not always easy being her provider...she isn't in control of her body anymore...but that is what needs to get done.

My super power is discernment. God has given me an ability to read people and situations with clarity and accuracy. My motto is "First thought, best thought" and time after time, it serves me well.

Well, as most moms would say, I am a super mom! And for those that don't think wiping bottoms, noses, and messes etc. is a super power I'd say try it :) I have been given the gift of being able to provide the feeling of home to our family which is a perfect compliment to my husband's superpower of being provider. We are blessed! Thanks for the link to Andrea and her super powers.

I'm a superhero because I'm dealing with a chronic pain disease (fibromyalgia). It's hard to go to class, go out with friends, run errands...just doing normal things, but I'm doing it. It may take me longer and I may be doing it in pain, but I'm doing it.

Personal Superpowers?
Wow, that is something that forces my thinking. hmmm....well...I always seem to get it done. Somehow despite all the frenzy around me, I always pull it together at the last minute. I have the super ability to be able to find the calm in the storm, coordinate and pull off the unimaginable. It might take me all night, but when need be..I can make miracles happen!
