Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show
First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:
What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.
Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...
And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:
• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.
• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.
• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).
To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.
I would also like to take a minute to welcome and thank my newest blog sponsors:
Digital Birdhouse : digital scrapbook products
Scarlet Lime : monthly kit club
The Paper Pixie : paper embellishments
The Digital Scrapbook Teacher : photoshop tutorials and classes for hybrid + digital scrapbooking
Lettergirls : delightful hand-created address stamps

I just decided to buy a house -- yikes -- that is a real fixer-upper. A little nervous, a little excited, and a little overwhelmed at the idea of it. This was definitely outside my comfort zone! (especially with 5 year old twins at home and a full-time job)....
Oh goodness, now that I'm writing it, I'm even more scared! :)

My biggest all-time leap was quitting my great job at age 28 (when unemployment was 11% in CA) and traveling around the US for a year with my boyfriend in a 19 ft travel trailer! (who became my DH for the last 17 years and who gave me 4 beautiful children)
This was the first of many big leaps we've taken!
Looking forward to hearing of the birth of your new baby!

In December my mammogram showed some abnormalities and I have had a biopsy along with some other tests and screenings. Everything has turned out okay, but it sure has took a leap of courage to get through the situation.

My biggest leap was to go back to graduate school to become a certified school library media specialist after staying home with my own kids for 15 years. Now I've just got to make a leap into a FULL TIME JOB!

My most recent leap was going under the knife for my second back surgery. I didn't want to do it, but I knew I had to if I wanted to improve my quality of life (i.e., being able to sit for long periods, sleep through the night, etc.) and to be able to enjoy everything about my family. After surgery, I had some regrets my decision, but I powered through them, trying to remain positive. Now, 4 months after surgery, things are getting better every day. I'm so thankful my husband proded me to get the surgery and that I went for it and trusted the docs.

My biggest leap lately is having to sacrifice my mind, body, time, and money to try and conceive a child. All the doctor appts, tests, infertility medications, etc has been so trying on not only myself but my husband as well. It is a leap I know was worth taking but has been so hard at the same time.

My most recent leap was with my job. I'm working on being promoted to a higher position which I really have been doing for many years. The leap is that managment decided to hire a new employee at that high level and has asked me to train that person. My first idea was to run from the building screaming, but I have to have faith that they are looking out for me too. If not, I will have to take another leap and look for a new job.

My most recent big leap, I took with my husband: we bought our first house. We have been saving up & planning for this since we got married 5 years ago, yet the responsibility that came with it was still daunting. Along the way we questioned our readiness for this huge purchase. However, we also encouraged one another & reminded each other of how much we've prepared for it. We've been in our home for 2 months and LOVE it...big leaps are so much easier to take with someone you love holding you hand.

one of our leaps we were called into. We were taken to Disney with a family member. We kept saying we would wait until the kids would be able to walk for a long period of time. They wanted to make sure the kids received the awe factor of going to Disney. And boy I am so glad we took the kids now.
So my leap I am taking out of this was to sign up for my first digi class and make an album out of the 2000 Disney photos for the family members that took us to Disney.

I can't think of a leap as of late! Maybe that means I need to get to it and think of something. Thanks for the giveaways.

My biggest leap was riding a roller coaster with my daughter. I'm an deathly afraid of heights but I don't want to pass my fears on to her so I sucked it up.

My leap was the realization that even if I am pregnant (my baby is 7 months old, I have difficulty bringing pregnancies to term) my family and I (and a new baby) will be just fine. Especially if the new baby is a girl (we have two boys). Gonna trust instead of worry.

Leap of Faith... have you ever seen RENT? Seriously though... leaps of faith. Trusting the car that pulled over to pick me and my friend up when we were stranded in high school & turned out to be one of those one in a million wonderful people... things like that!

Hmmm. I have to be a bit more courageous I guess, cant seem to think of anything. A big leap would be to continue at my job even though my commute has increased to an extra 3 hours a day.
