Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show
First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:
What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.
Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...
And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:
• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.
• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.
• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).
To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.
I would also like to take a minute to welcome and thank my newest blog sponsors:
Digital Birdhouse : digital scrapbook products
Scarlet Lime : monthly kit club
The Paper Pixie : paper embellishments
The Digital Scrapbook Teacher : photoshop tutorials and classes for hybrid + digital scrapbooking
Lettergirls : delightful hand-created address stamps

My most recent little leap of courage was asking a new friend out to dinner and a concert. I'm not very good at "putting myself out there" but I did and it was fun. There was absolutely nothing to be scared of.

I'm going to Portland, OR this weekend. This trip is to support my friend who live 2000 miles away to help her start her west coast arm of her jewelry business. This is a real leap for her and she asked me to help since I live in norther CA and have friends in Portland. And I took a "leap" and said yes.

Hoenstly, my life has been quiet and blessed lately. I have not been forced to take any leaps nor have I been called to any leaps. Maybe the most recent leap would be finally making the mental decision that God has put me where I am (physically) in my life for a reason and I need to stop holding on to where I use to be (home). With that leap, I have been becoming more committed to friendships, which for me, is hard. If that is the only leap, I am truly blessed!

In September I did the high ropes challenge course (45 feet in the air) at our women's retreat. A couple years ago I watched some people do this ropes course and I thought to myself that if I lost some weight and got healthy I'd like to give it a try. Fast forward two years, 60 pounds lost and new health. I had to give it a try. It was so scary, but so exhilirating when I completed the course. Challenge and fears faced. Victory!

My recent leap was my first own move from a little town to Munich (Germany) to be near to my boyfriend. It was a great leap to do it on my own and it was worth the effort, because this year we're celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary ;-)

My biggest leap since of January was letting Our Father God into my life. I left being Catholic & became a born-again Christian. It has been a huge life changing event within myself & my family. Its amazing what He can give when you have Him in your life.

This year I changed jobs, which for me was a huge leap! I am a middle school science teacher and I am now teaching in the same district in which I live and my children attend. Such a blessing to our family, for me to be more available and with less travel! The change has been exhausting and quite overwhelming, I feel like a first year teacher all over again. I am in a good place... I would love to win!! Would be so renewing for me!

Leaping can be so hard!! I have recently joined a group of women for a Bible study - learning to be accountable and relational. It's much easier for me to hide myself away. Anxiously awaiting news of your little one. Praying for you!

My most recent leap was asking a casual acquaintance to sponsor an event. I hate asking people for money and this was very difficult.

Aww..if only I got get to Italy. I've always wanted to go there. And Elsie Flannigan (one of my favorite people ever) is teaching there too. But alas, full-time college student - not for me. ... I'd settle for the Feb kit from Freehand Scraps. :)
Thanks for sharing that courage & leaps quote from your friend.. :)
Recent act of courage/"leap"? Hmm, probably speaking out loud more (asking questions, participating in discussion, etc) in my college classes. :)

Great quote and great giveaways.
Our leap at the moment is letting our 10 yr old be a little more independent and helping him find his way in the world. Also for us to trust that what we're teaching him will stand him in good stead in the future.

In the throes of a leap of faith...packing up our whole house, 4 kids including a 2 month old!) and prepping it to sell b/c we've found the house that will really work for us. Hoping it all works out in the midst of this crazy time, but it feels right so we're leaping!

my most recent "leap" was being proactive in trying to repair a very important relationship with someone. Something that I have been avoiding for a long time. Hopefully we are on our way down the right path together. I am sure it will be lots of hard work but very worth it in the end.

i am leaving the job field i have been in for 13 years to try something completely different- something that will require me to take some classes (something i haven't done for almost 2 decades) but the new career will definitely feed my soul, whereas my current one is 'just a job'. this change also involves a pay cut, but in the area of happiness, i will be giving myself a raise!

A large leap for me was letting go of my oldest child to go away to college in a different state and not call him every single day!!!! Learning to let go and trust. You never stop being a mom!

My most recent act of courage (leap) was in talking about my clinical depression at a conference. I was on a q&a board and coping with stress was one of the topics. I was honest and talked about taking medication for depression and tried to remove the shame that others may feel by bringing it out into the light. It was scary, but there was a freedom in it!
