Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show
First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:
What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.
Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...
And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:
• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.
• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.
• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).
To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.
I would also like to take a minute to welcome and thank my newest blog sponsors:
Digital Birdhouse : digital scrapbook products
Scarlet Lime : monthly kit club
The Paper Pixie : paper embellishments
The Digital Scrapbook Teacher : photoshop tutorials and classes for hybrid + digital scrapbooking
Lettergirls : delightful hand-created address stamps

My most recent leap...was being laid off in Oct 2008, from a job I would have been at for 19 years tomorrow, feb 5th.Mind you I am single and only breadwinner in household.I had to put everything I had grown so comfotable with and put it in God's hands and do my part by getting out there, sending and filling out app.s and counting on God that my perfect job was waiting for me and that he would take care of me in s...After waiting 13 weeks unemployment kicked in last week, and I was offered a job yesterday.Although its 20% less than prior salary. This 3 months has really put me in focus of what my priorites are and that less money wouldn't hurt me. So YAH!!!! I start next monday feb 9th.

My recent leap that I took is training for a half marathon. I was nervous and unsure of how my training would start, but I am amazed at how much I can accomplish with determination and hard work. I am running more than I ever thought possible.

My little leap is taking the diaper off of my 2 year old as I potty train him...chasing him around the house asking, do you have to go honey? 2 second later...do you have to go?....praying no accidents all over the carpet.

This morning actually. I had to go to a clinic for medical reasons and do it all without hyperventilating...I was very stressed but I did it.

My newest leap has been creating a web site where all sorts of artists can find inspiration, and where my partner and myself can offer classes, tips, and techniques. We've hit a few road bumps along the way, but are persevering. I love new adventures!

Oh than you for the chance at these prizes!
I live in Germany, so while this may sound silly to most of you, it took me a while to answer the phone. I just started learning German, so I didn't feel like I could speak well enough. I finally got the courage to start answering the phone so that my husband doesn't have to.
I still catch my breath a little when the phone rings. People have to speak slow, simple German to me... and that isn't always easy for them or for me. So that's been my big step.

Believe it or not, my most recent big leap will be attending a four-day scrapbooking retreat in April. I consider myself slightly agoraphobic and am uncomfortable in new situations with people I have not met before. I also have problems sleeping anywhere but in my own bed. So this is somewhat of a leap for me. However, I am extremely excited about attending this retreat and am already planning and packing and hope to overcome some of my phobias in the end.

Everyday when I get up I take a small leap of faith that homeschooling is the right thing to do for our family.

My most recent leap was contacting approaching an old friend's parents in a restaurant and passing along my information. The dad had always intimidated me. When my old friend didn't contact me after a few months, I happened upon her on Facebook and sent her a message, which I would not have done at this time last year! I would have thought that since she didn't contact me from when I saw her parents that she didn't want to be in touch with me. She did write back on FB and we had lunch last weekend! So fun! :)

My most recent leap is to start doing some things for me - like excercising daily and letting others in our household take over some chores - without feeling guilty.

Wow...what a great giveaway!
My most recent leap is still in progress. I am in the process of booking a week long trip to a city on the other side of the country. I have only flown once before and I was going to visit family. This trip is all about me exploring somewhere new with someone I love. It's a first for me!

I'm a play-it-safe kind of girl, but my word for 2009 is REACH. That's a leap in itself, for me to commit to a word like that!
What great giveaways today. Thanks, Ali!

I have always been one to applaud the everyday little leaps that w all go through. My most recent leap would have to be finally taking some control over my health. I have never been one to take medicine or go to the doctor...I always felt like I was whining or bothering people. So I convinced myself that I would just straighten out. It got so bad at Christmas time that I was under 100 pounds and so miserable that I couldn't leave the house. I took a tiny little step and starting taking some supplements and they have made a huge difference! I couldn't believe it! I've gained a little of my weight back, I can eat again, and I went to my daughter's award ceremony yesterday without any trouble at all. Sounds small but it was a huge victory for me. :) {Ooo...a trip to Paris would be divine but alas...not possible for me at this time either. bummer. I'm drooling over the fabulous kit!!} Good luck to all!!

Well, I guess my most recent leap was cutting off my hair. It was probably middle of my back and now it's way short. I was a little nervous at first but it's kind of fun now!
Thanks for the great giveaways! What wonderful prizes!

I'd like to toss my hat in the ring!
And my most biggest leap of courage was moving from California to Alabama to live with this wonderful, wonderful man that I met on XBox Live playing video games with him. Yes, seriously! :)
