Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show
First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:
What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.
Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...
And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:
• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.
• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.
• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).
To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.
I would also like to take a minute to welcome and thank my newest blog sponsors:
Digital Birdhouse : digital scrapbook products
Scarlet Lime : monthly kit club
The Paper Pixie : paper embellishments
The Digital Scrapbook Teacher : photoshop tutorials and classes for hybrid + digital scrapbooking
Lettergirls : delightful hand-created address stamps

I have dealt with many leaps of courage in the past couple years, big and small however the biggest one by far was when we had finally found our dream house, moved in and 10 months later sold it and moved a whole continent away... it has take an a whole lot of courage to start anew in a new country without the familiarity of family, friends and even knowing the language. But I am courageous and daring and I love every moment of the journey. I also love your stuff and your blog!

thanks for sharing.
the last three years have been full of huge leaps. marriage, finishing school, moving to a new city with no family or friends, taking a new job, dealing with being the "money maker" for the last two years. Starting the first of this year, my husband has finally found something stable, we have a great support system of friends here, I'm preparing myself for the next big leap. I'm ready.

My biggest leap has been to update my 15+ year old resume and start networking. Back to the professional world after years in a full-time mommy world.

My most recent leap was jumping on board with new management/ownership at my job. Lots of fresh ideas and opportunities even in the midst of a crumbling economy.

My recent leap of courage was to believe in my marriage vows. My husband and I have gone thru some significant challenges this year and we were ready to go our seperate ways. I had to make the biggest decision of my life...and it was done on faith. I needed to believe in myself, in us and our marriage. It is not easy and every day is work.... but I am finally "seeing" what needs to be done to make this marriage work. It does take sacrafices, it does take compromise...and until you have been in that place...you will never really understand how much faith you have to have. It's not perfect and there is a lot of work left to be done...but I am giving it my best shot..for real this time.

The most recent leap was the job change for my husband. It was made out of family life considerations but we had to wait and see if it all actually worked out for the better. And slowly but surely that seems to become the case.

My biggest leap ever was watching my husband leave for Iraq this past weekend. Everyday has been a rollercoaster with my 1 year old and 2 1/2 year old. I'm definitely learning about myself (and my relationship) in his absence. These leaps are the true pathways to learning, though, and I love to learn ;)

My leap is putting myself out there and going into a group of people that I know no-one seeking to meet new people, make new friends, and just enjoy myself. Usually rewarding, always a bit scary.

My most recent leap...my husband and I purchase a little lot of land and we put our current house up for sale. We will be moving to a new community and starting almost over. In this economic market putting a house up for sale is a "crazy" thing to do but we believe we have found the right place to move to. It's not easy to stay strong each day...so your quote today meant a lot to me. I would love to win a spot in Stacy's class.

My recent leap was letting go-to stop holding on so tight- to my 17yo twin boys. They have learning disabilities and don't always make the best decisions, but they are seniors and graduating in a few months. I have to let them make more decisions and more mistakes. Only then will they learn appropriate decision making. Janice

My most recent leap was on Dec. 18th when I quit smoking. It's been very hard and a daily struggle but it's already rewarding me. My house smells better, EVERYTHING smells better. My kids health is better and so is mine.

in the spring of 2007, i decided to leave a college i really didn't connect with and do something that was really meaningful..
i searched through many different adventures, and chose to go live in the UK for a whole year, never having been to England before and knowing noone there, helping special needs adolescents. it has so far been one of the most challenging and wonderful experiences of my life.
i'm hoping for another big leap soon.. perhaps braving college searches again and leaping to one that matches my heart?
thanks so much for this wonderful opportunity!
love~

Biggest leap is happening right now! I contacted a foster care program about becoming foster parents with the plan/desire to adopt. My youngest child is only 10 months old but I feel a sense of urgency about adopting soon. I don't feel prepared or ready to have another child immediately but every week something major will happen that stirs my heart even more to make this happen. Our only conclusion is that there is s child waiting or about to be born that God has planned to be a part of our family and that thought makes my heart swell and my eyes water. So...here we go!

My "leap," if only for one task, is to leave the world of perceived "perfection" and be satisfied. I can be satisfied because instead of perfection being my motivator, I am motivated by intention. My intention is love.

My most recent leap is sending an application for a job, after almost 4 years as a stay-at-home mom.
The application is being sent today, because of this push. So even if I don't win the giveaway, that's a really good thing.
But I really, really hope I win!
