Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show
First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:
What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.
Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...
And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:
• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.
• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.
• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).
To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.
I would also like to take a minute to welcome and thank my newest blog sponsors:
Digital Birdhouse : digital scrapbook products
Scarlet Lime : monthly kit club
The Paper Pixie : paper embellishments
The Digital Scrapbook Teacher : photoshop tutorials and classes for hybrid + digital scrapbooking
Lettergirls : delightful hand-created address stamps

My recent leap has been working day and night to protect consumers with this product recall on peanuts. We have a small business and it is amazing how tremendous of a loss this is going to be for our small company. But once notified it was for me to protect consumers and working so many hours to contact all customers to get product off shelves. Once we go to the landfill with the FDA will be relief and praying to get through this loss!
Thank you Ali!!!!

Hi Ali,
my leap was to go out for new assignments for my work, since i think i rely too much on the ones i have. It was hard for me to call and say, hi, i am a textwriter, maybe you need one? But i did and it seems i have at least one new customer!

My latest leap has been to believe in myself (which has been hard) and things will work out for the best. And last night I had acknowledgement, that even with the recession things are working out for us. I am now feeling more confident in what I do and that we will get there! Thanks for letting me air this as it isn't easy.

My most recent leap is starting to potty train my 2 1/2 year old. He's my second son, so I've done this before, but still...it's taking courage, patience, endurance, etc.

I need courage and strength to get through the coming days watching the mother I once knew slip away.

My most recent act of courage took place today. I am in the Air Force and volunteered to go to Germany. I realize that it is an exciting change, but it is also very scary. My Grandmother died last year and I need my family and they need me more than anything right now, so moving would be very hard on all of us. I hope it is the right choice!

Earlier this week, after almost 16 years, I finally confronted some issues with a family member. It was HARD but I'm glad I did it!!

Leaps come in different strides for sure....I like the reminder you posted to see them for what they are, our chance to grow.
The class sounds too good to be true, getting back to a place of creativity instead of always-behind-try-to-catch-up.
My leap was willingness to know what my heart told me was true & have my 5th child. I didn't want to. I was "full" & content with 4. But in my heart I KNEW God was telling me I would miss out. And so I quietly threw a fit (in my head)....and forgot about the if's, how's and I can't's & "I don't want be prego again" . He told me I would only regret not taking this leap.
As it turns out, COMPLETELY TRUE! Our lil guy is the perfect compliment to each of his older sibs & satisfies something in me I never knew was there. He completes us. Now we are 7...eek! And wonderful. He was my leap.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for sharing those thoughts on leaps. You could not have picked a better day to share - SO needed to hear that. My most recent leap (that was pushed) was the loss of a job several weeks ago. I have taken many leaps on my own, starting a side business of my own to supplement some income while taking on new challenges/interviews in positions and industries that are completely new to me. It's terrifying and thrilling all at once, and my outlook is that while this wasn't my choice, everything happens for a reason and I'm looking forward to what's next.

A big leap for me was to start exercising again - 5 days a week. It has been hard work making it happen but I am totally starting to feel the benefits. It is really hard to make and keep that commitment, but now that I've been doing it for several weeks, I am starting to crave it each day and it's becoming part of my daily life.

I think my most recent leap is being willing to host a Tupperware party for a new friend. For some reason, this scares me!
Love the quote. Thanks for sharing.

I recently made quite a leap- I moved from Utah to New Hampshire. It was terrifying to make such a big move but at the same time it wasn't. When something is right, there's no denying it and things fall into place. I've been hugely blessed.

My most recent leap is trying to take care of me -- I think this is something that most women struggle with.

in 2000 i lept out of the interior design field. i decided if i was not making bags of money and working for a fabulous company or my own co. by the time i had been in the field 20 years i would leave it...i lasted for 18 years with crappy jobs and low pay before taking a computer class for updating skills and getting recruited for a fabulous job from their...soooo that is my leap! i do love the kit and i have been dying to take staceys LOM class...fabulous

My most recent leap is at the preschool where I teach. I am an assistant teacher right now, but was asked to be the lead teacher for a class that may be opening this fall. I would have the summer to prepare the room and myself, find staff, and set a curriculum. Scary, yet fun! If it doesn't happen this fall, it will happen next fall for sure!
