365 : This Week In Photos & Words
Tags:
JANUARY 26 : Hello sweet, happy girl. You are a lover of life. Easy-going. You are just a few days shy of your first birthday. Almost-walking without any assistance (you actually ended up walking on your own on the 27th). Silly. Those blue eyes.
I am excited to watch life unfold for you.

JANUARY 27 : Currently reading The Book Thief
and carrying around Food Rules
(loved Michael Pollan's other books). Up next: The Happiness Project
.

JANUARY 28 : Thursday lunch. Turkey, avocado, and some cheese. Pineapples. Most days I try not to eat lunch at my computer. I go to the table. I spread out the paper...and read the news that I have already heard on NPR in the early AM.

JANUARY 29 : This morning I took three pairs of sweat pants (his pant of choice on no-school days) out of Simon's drawers because they are way past the point of being way too short.
I think he thinks there will be a prize. I need to ask him what will happen when he is taller than me...
All these words & photos are going into my Project Life
album. I am uploading and writing daily (or almost) on Flickr. You can read more about my approach to this project here.

My grandma did a doorway like yours where she measured all the grandkids. Now that we're all grown up and some of us have kids of their own, it's really cool to see. Simon and Anna will cherish those milestone markers just like we do!

Every single time I see Anna's sweet face...it makes me smile. You have two absolutely beautiful children.
I also have used a "doorway measure" for my great niece and great nephews for several years. They love to compare who is growing the fastest!

We use the spot between the kitchen and family room to do our measuring - and the kids, like Simon, love to see how much they've grown and how much further until they're as tall as Mommy (yes, I have a mark on the trim, too). I've never thought of taking a photo of it. Duh! Thanks for the inspiration, Ali!

Sounds like LIFE IS GOOD! at the Edwards house. Can Anna really be almost 1 year old? Wow... how time passes. She's a real cutie pie. :)

Thanks for the reminder to take pics of the everyday. I'm dying to find out what Simon thinks is going to happen when he's taller than you!
I discovered The Book Thief last year and loved it so much I read it three times. It's a heartbreakingly beautiful story. enjoy :)

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed looking at your photos. I am also doing a photo a day and have been taking so many people photos that it was great to see this and remind myself to capture the small details too! Can't believe Anna is almost 1.

I hardly ever post but...Anna is so beautiful. I know you know, but it brought a huge smile to my face to see her. Yay for meeting milestones! And the Book Thief. What a great book. Have a great weekend.

Anna is such a beautiful little girl! My baby girl turned one the day after Christmas and there is something about a girl that brings such joy to my life. My boys are my love as well, but that smile of Sophia's gets me. She is also easy going, but does have her moments. Love the measurement of Simon thing too. I remember doing this on my grandparents door when I was little. :-)

Ali,
Thank you for letting all of us readers into your life and your world. I read the Book Thief a couple of months ago after reading one of your blog posts on it. It was a little difficult at first for me to get into it given the narrative but once I did I really enjoyed it. I hope you do as well.
Blessings

I have that spot on the wall also where the height is marked every few months. Mine is now all grown up and I looka t that and wonder where the time went. I keep trying to figure out a way to keep this little piece of history. A picture doesn't quite do it, but I can't see cutting out the wall either.
