Week In The Life : Tuesday
Tags:Hey there, how's it going?
Yesterday I took 128 photos (on Monday I took 92). Will I use them all? NO WAY. Many of them are repeats or different angles or blurry or trial images of the same subject. Next week, when I put the album together, I will go through each day and select the ones that best tell the story.
Any photos that don't make it into the album may be used to tell other stories in my regular scrapbooks. Maybe. And maybe not. One of the beautiful things about this project is that the photos themselves bring up other stories you may have been wanting to tell or you'll find things that are important to you that hold stories that you should tell.
I would love for you to share links to your favorite photo taken so far in the comments section. If you don't have a link you can just describe the shot and tell why you love it.There is magic in this process of capturing your everyday life.
I also wanted to re-post another of my favorite quotes about everyday life. This one's from Anna Quindlen:
I hope you have a great day today and I hope you roll with this process. Maybe you will write more or less today or maybe you will take a 100 photos or just a few - whatever you collect is just right and will give a peek into your daily life in April 2010.
Enjoy your Wednesday.
Here's a look at some of my favorite photos from Tuesday:

My journaling today was handwritten on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. I jotted down times & activities throughout the day. I'll post it next week when I show how I put my album together. I'm thinking I might just slip it into a page protector as a new page for Tuesday...

I posted already this morning but here are my favorite pictures from Monday and Tuesday. Monday is totally a "real" moment. My husband usually works till 6 sometimes he decides to take a half day so he's here to see kids get off bus. My kids never know when he's going to do it, so they really are totally surprised when they see him in the driveway waiting. Sam always jumps into Rich's arms for a big hug, so glad I got this photo, may not be the best but I got the bus and my two favorite guys. By the way Sam never runs and hugs me hello, I'm there everyday so not exciting to him. On Tuesday Sam took this picture of his baby cousin we babysit. She closes her eyes now when you take her picture, so funny. But he did this on his own without me telling him too, that's how involved he is about this, usually he doesn't take a picture.
I also have this poem that my scrapbook consultant got from her leader and I thought I'd share. It's one I use in my family albums. Sorry don't have her name handy.
We gather up pictures
And bits of our past
And scrapbook them into
A gift that will last.
We write about milestones
And travels and such-
The times of our lives
That we treasure so much.
A few special photos,
A family tree,
A few thoughtful words
And soon we will see...
The album we've made
Is much more than a book.
It's worth even more
Than the time that it took.
It's a gift holding memories
And made with great care
By hearts and hands
With love to share.
I think it descripes how I feel when making my family albums. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday. Love all the pictures everyones been taking, I looked at some already.

I'm lovin this whole process! And the fact that it is getting my camera in my hand more often. I too take tons of pics throughout the day and then post a few of my favs each day. So much fun!

Hey Ali
Thanks for the inspiration as always. I'm struggling but trying not to moan about it :o Just rolling with it and taking more photos. I think cos I was really prepared it's hindered my process because now I realise I should have worked the idea of lots of pictures into each day. I thought I wouldn't have any stories to tell! But I know I have the capacity to change it and make it how I want it to be.
Thanks Ali again.

No tripod - I just set the camera on a piece of furniture, etc.

Most likely mine will be on the computer or maybe printed. It really just depends on what your plan is with all your photos in general...do you print them all out, etc? You could definitely add some envelopes/page protectors to hold the additional photos from this project and put them in this album in the back (or with each day).

Hi - I use the timer on my camera and set it on a piece of furniture to take the shot.

I don't think there is a problem. There are just many pages of comments - to see your comment you would have to scroll through a ton of pages. I will double check and make sure your comment went through.

Hi! I'm really interested in the Week in the Life layered template album you have at Designer Digitals. If it's possible, I'd like some more information abou the template. For me, $25 is a lot to spend without knowing what is included.
It would really help to know more about his album. The description says "The album pages include some of the Week in a Life Tabs also available separately". It would be great to know which ones are incuded. Is there any way to see examples of some of the 14 pages that are not pictured?
Thanks!

I did the same thing! I also realized that I read my calendar wrong and my 4year old's birthday party (with family) is THIS Sunday not next Sunday -- yikes! I think I may start over next week too!

Ali, I love the clean look of your house. The flowers, the photos ... so ... uhm ... perfect. And then I look at my photos and I feel they are so boring because I see this stuff every day, the kitchen counter, the backgrounds.
I want to be more creative, yesterday's picture you took inspired me to try different angles and make more out of something quite ordinary. And ... more flowers!!!

This is a lot of fun! I'm in my second year of P365, so having my camera ready everyday is now a normal part of me. I decided to join in the Week in the Life project this year because I know that this time next year our lives will be completely different and I want us to be able to look back and see what our lives were like: what we looked like, what we wore, where we lived, worked and played. Thanks for inspiring us to tell our stories. You can see some of my favorites on my blog: http://thedanaslifesmoments.blogspot.com/
Thanks again, Ali!

I am glad to see the number of pictures you posted. I took 30, but I can see after deleteing, it is not enough. I had a hilarious time with the photo timer which I was happy to get a push in using. There are a couple of the learning process at www.grandmere.typepad.com

My favorite photo so far was taken on Tuesday. My hubby & myself connected for a quick lunch together...he is in sales so his cell phone is constantly going off. He had to take a call, so while he was on the phone I grabbed my camera & discretely took a photo of him...as soon as he got off the phone he asked me if I had just taken a photo of him...I just smiled :o) LOVE this project! Thanks Ali!

Hey Ali,
I'm a first timer on this but I'm loving the process and all the encouragement you provide. That quote from Anna Q this morning really helps to validate all the eye rolling I'm getting from my husband when I want to take a picture of our dinner.... He'll get it next week when he sees the finished product.
I've been posting my favorites from the last two days on my blog here:

Again - thanks Ali for all of your pearls of creative wisdom!

Loving this... my husband told me last night he is really happy I'm doing this project. I think he thought I was crazy at first! Struggling with the journaling. I need to focus more on the STORY of our life, dig a little deeper. After all, those are the things I really want to remember. Thank you for all of your inspiration.

Here are my favorite shots from Monday:

Oddly enough, the shot of my exit sign from the highway is a favorite because I see that sign practically every day but never think to take a picture of it!

I took fewer photos yesterday than today. This is my second time doing this project. One thing I love about it is that it makes me stop and reflect about my daily life and the things I really love in my life. I've noticed I take a lot of pictures of food and food prep. I love to cook and eat well and I have realized I don't really document this part of my life in my everyday scrapping. Here's a link to my Monday post, which includes a few yummy food shots. http://itsaredredworld.blogspot.com/2010/04/week-in-life-2010.html
