Celebrating Simon.

Candles

We are all wiped out tonight after a really fun, loud, and chocolate-filled birthday celebration. My feet are definitely tired.

Cupcakes

Yep, cake (above) and cupcakes.

Seven

Birthdays are cool.

And I love this one:

Cake2

Today after school Simon and I will embark on putting together a Star Wars lego ship. Wish me luck. He was bummed that it was not happening after the party so we had a little chat about having something to look forward to on the day after your birthday.

He also says thank you to all of you who left well-wishes for him yesterday. That was really special and cool.

Seven is going to be a good year.

Dottedline

SimontourTOPPIC

And speaking of things that are good & fun, a tour of Simon's updated bedroom was featured on Ohdeedoh yesterday (click this link for information about stuff in the room). In all reality the nesting has been going on around here for the last few months.

The planet mobile is an old one from Pottery Barn Kids. I found this one on ebay a few years back.

    Happy Birthday, Simon!
Ali, that planet wall in Simon's room, with the star lights, is sheer genius. Expect a 4-year-old in Texas to copy that. ;-)

We're in Lego Love around here as well. My kids are a little older than Simon (8 and 10) but I have a big kid as well. My husband still has all his legos from 30 years ago! So they have someone to play with, at least. :-)

If Simon is anything like my son, he'll be better at assembling the Lego ship than you are. Hee!
Hey -- can you show us a close-up of the artwork hanging below the globe in the photo? It looks intriguing!!

My little boy turned seven last month. Such a HUGE difference seven years makes in a life! New attitudes, new emotions, glimpses of who this little person may turn out to be. A special time for sure.

Happy Birthday Simon. You are a few months older than my oldest daugther Gabriella. She'll be 7 on the 1st day of Summer. Looks like his party was fun.
Good luck with the Lego SW ship. Is it the Falcon? My son's room is mostly Galaxy. A mix of SW and Buzz Lightyear...thus the Galaxy theme.

Nice room. I love the planet mobile. The Star Wars ship is not bad to do. However, my son just got the Death Star and it has 4 boxes with lots of bags with pieces. I do think whoever design it had way too much time on their hands. It is a nightmare.

    re: legos
My son hoards the lego catalogs -- I highly recommend them for car travel. He still has one from Holiday 2006 (just a wee bit ragged). He discovered all on his own, no mom-prompting, that anticipating having a new lego star wars ship was almost as good as actually having it.
    Enjoy!
