Sponsor Giveaways: SewCute Shop

Sewcutegiveaway

One person will receive a Women's Auty Top from SewCute Shop (you will be able to choose your own fabric from her current stock):

Here's a little bit about SewCute Shop and Brandy's mission to do something really good for another family:

I started sewing sometime last year and fell in love. My grandmother (Nana) taught me the basics of pinning patterns, hemming, and seams. After being taught those skills I have really been a self-taught seamstress. I have a true love for putting the most trendy fabrics together and making 'SewCute' items. The items I place in SewCute Shop are my favorites and I am very happy to make them for you.

In March 2009 my best friend's little boy was suddenly diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) - a degenerative brain disease. The movie 'Lorenzo's Oil was made to bring awareness to this newly discovered disease. In early April, Joel, Teresa and Riley Greene aka TEAMGREENE were moved from Chattanooga, TN to Durham, NC where Riley would spend what they thought 100 days after receiving a bone marrow transplant. Due to complications, this week marks 133 TEAMGREENE has been in Duke Hospital.

I made a pledge to donate all proceeds from SewCute Shop to TEAMGREENE until they returned home in Chattanooga. For me sewing has become much more than just a hobby it has been a small part of what allows my best friend to stay by her son's side. For more information on TEAMGREENE visit www.carepages.com/carepages/teamgreene and create a username/password.

When I'm not sewing away I enjoy spending time with my fabulous husband, Ty and two children Autumn (9) and Tyler (2).

I had Brandy make one of these for Anna (see above) and one of these for me (love wearing it over my jeans) and they are awesome.

The charity closest to my heart is anything to do with cancer research. I lost my grandad last year to cancer, and my mother had a scare recently too - fortunately it looks like surgery has removed the tumour completely and there's no sign of it having spread. One of the world leaders in cancer research is http://www.icr.ac.uk/

I have to admit - I don't have a "regular" charity, except my college's annual fund (www.cabrini.edu). . .I donate based on what's happening in our lives - my kids' schools do a lot of collecting items for various causes, and we always partake of those. . .I leave at least one bag out for Purple Heart every month. . .
Adorable tings on Brandy's website - she has a fantastic eye and talent.

My favorite charity is Project Night Night. They provide tote bags filled with a stuffed animal, a blanket, and books to children in shelters to give them a little piece of security. Here is the link:

It doesn't make sense that 4500 children should die every day from the lack of access to clean water. I have a young woman from Africa living with me who was never sent to school in her home country. One reason: she needed to walk miles every day to bring water back to her household.

One of my favorite charities is actually the work of my friends Michael and Hope (Susanna) Rose who are in Chicago for Campus Crusade and are doing such great work with the kids in several of the community colleges and universities. https://give.ccci.org/give/View/0582077

Absolutely gorgeous clothes, and a beautiful story too. My favourite charity is our local hospice, as most people in our area know someone who has been helped by them.

i'm in the process of setting up a blog for my favorite charity (and therefore, no link yet)-- heart of nehemiah ministries. this small group ministry is for men and women who long to live with hope as they courageously look back at their own stories in the light of God's redeeming love. many, many people who have participated in this ministry have (or know someone who has)an history of abuse--physical, sexual, emotional, spiritual, or verbal, or any combination of these. for most participants, it's the first time they've looked back or even spoken of their past in the presence of others. the healing and the freedom that comes from being in a safe, affirming environment is incredible. my dear friend, the director of the ministry, shares her gift of Biblical teaching as she leads participants on the path of hope and change.

One charity that I really appreciate and have spent some time volunteering for is Heifer International. You can donate so that they send animals to places in need. These communities then raise farms for income. You can buy an animal or a whole ark. One year my college, through the students donations, bought two arks to send.

One of my favorites is the Susan G Komen Foundation. As I type this, the big "3-Day" 60 mile walk is taking place here in Minnesota. This event is expected to raise 7 million dollars for breast cancer research, awwareness, and outreach services. These folks are very effective and can be trusted to spend donations wisely. i have a number of causes that are close to me, but the work of the feminist majority foundation (http://feminist.org) is a great organization which works to empower women and fight for women's rights (social, economical, political, etc) and work for equality. i also appreciate the work of the planned parenthood federation (http://ppfa.org) which works to provide sexual education and reproductive healthcare to all, regardless of background, income, gender, etc.
and i love love love to sew!

I'm a huge fan and supporter of Habitat for Humanity www.habitat.org. I love that they don't just give homes to people but that people have to put in sweat equity hours in order to get a house- it's not just a handout....

For me, since my grandpa died of complications od Diabetes. I think so much can be done to prevent this and make it so much less of a problem, and I've actually chosen the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: http://www.jdrf.org/ . But I also sent money to Lee Iacocca's foundation for Type 1 diabetes research in my grandpas name.

It's wonderful that you are doing this for your friends. I have been through a very serious health issue with my own child and was blessed by the tremendous outpouring of love and support that we received from others. My favorite charity is http://www.specialolympics.org.
