In trying to live more purposefully each day and not be insane about planning the next day or week or month :) I chose the word TODAY!

Thanks so much for posting all the words in a nice list. I copied the list of words and pasted them onto a blank document, printed them and cut them into strips, each containing one word. I put the strips in a pretty box and will draw one out each day. I hope to use them as a journal prompt, consider them like I would a tarot card and or just keep awareness of that word for the day.

My word is 'obedience'. To follow the path and plans that God has for me, not mine.

I chose mindful too Erin. You mention all the things I want to be mindful of! I want to also be mindful of how I interact with family/friends and aim to be present.

Mine is Walk. As in walk the talk, walk with God, walk away from negativity, walk toward the light, and just get out and walk! My word came to me a couple months ago. And I Love my word. This is my third year with One Little Word! Last year's was Calm. It grounded me through my divorce and all the scary changes I went through. I can't say enough about how powerful it is to choose a word for the year. Peace to you!

My word is "sure". My husband passed away 2 years ago at a fairly young age. For 2 years I haven't done too much due to grieving, etc. When someone would ask if I wanted to do something, I usually said no because I just wanted to stay in my "comfort zone" at home.
This year, whenever anyone asks if I want to do something, I plan on saying a quick "sure." I need to get out and learn to live once again.

I love this. I think you might also find its alternate meaning, being certain, popping up for you. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope this year brings lots of new experiences and possibilities as you embrace "sure". Cheers!

I've been waiting for my word to pop into my head and reading this list helped so much...so many came close to what I was searching for but not completely, and then it flashed into my mind, out of the blue and I quickly scrolled to the end to see if it was there...it is not!

VIGOR : physical/mental strength and good health

Wishing everyone good luck and courage with their special word for 2013

My word for 2013 is 'Intimate'. I've come to realise I crave intimate honest meaningful connections and always have. (And I mean that in the most pure soul nourishing sense not the sexual sense). But for fear of failing, not being good enough, imposing on others or simply being rejected and hurt I've subconsciously always sabotaged any chances I might have had. But now I've been abandoned rejected and hurt in the worst way imaginable I've no longer got anything to fear. So this year I'm going to nurture my soul and allow myself to fulfil my desire for intimacy.

I've never done OLW before, but I've decided my word is AWARE.

I want to be aware and pay attention to everything in my life & the world instead of sleepwalking through it.

My word is press. I feel like so any things in my life need an extra push to get to a new level. I'm looking to see some changes actually happen in a positive direction. And I know it's going to require some major effort and sacrifice to get there.

Excited for your class and to keep focusing and applying my word this year.

Thanks for posting this list... so inspiring!

Since my word is "WORDS", I'll be using many of these in a "word of the day" calendar and tying them to my "WORD" with a verse. (For example: "COMMIT" is the one little word of the friend who first told me about this class, and my verse for that word is Psalm 19:14 "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my hear be pleasing in your sight..." - Lord, I commit my words to You this year!)

If you're interested, there's a picture of my calendar and the "prep" ideas I tried here:

I have chosen a word the paast few years, but have not let it thrive. So, after reading you last post, I decided to let my word "find" me....to let it speak to me. At first I thought it was INTENT. But the way I wanted INTENT to live would mean me living in a vaccuum. Wel....with a family, a job, a multitude of other responsibilities, I decided that was NOT the word. So...After a little more breweing, I heard ENGAGE. Almost heard it like on Star Trek "Engage!" I want to ENGAGE being a mother, ENGAGE being a wife, ENGAGE being a homekeeper (we have already MADE a home, now we just need to keep or maintain it), ENAGE in being a pharmacist. Maybe being better at each.

My word is DRIVE. I want to have the drive to see things through like changing my diet and the drive to find a new job and do things I long to do and be driven from negativity.
