Capture.

Simonknees_2Chris came zooming into my studio last night to grab the camera so he could capture this little moment. What he loved was how Simon was sitting on his knees with his toes tucked under - seems like a bigger kid thing to do. Gotta love that Chris is in tune with capturing these awesome everyday little things.

The Oregon House is running at full speed right now as they near their end of session date (June 29th I think). Chris is super busy and I am enjoying watching the floor sessions online through the Oregon Channel - love listening to the antics (that would be the politics) as well as the basic business of the House.

Simon is in his last day of school today until later this summer. We have a family reunion coming up this weekend on the Oregon coast. The whole clan will be there - kilts and all - for golf and playing on the beach and probably some great food and drinks and lots of little kids. I have so many great memories of this event as a kid - it wasn't every year and I think that actually made it even more special. Looking forward especially to seeing my Mom & Dad, my sister Jessica and my sister-in-law Liz & John & Henry. Seriously excited about all the photo opportunities.

For the last couple weeks I have been working on book stuff, playing with Flickr (and being seriously inspired by it for my scrapbook pages), working on developing a new CK KOTM for later this year, playing with beeswax, and just generally taking an inventory of what I am doing, where I am going, and how I feel about it all.

Next week I head down to Southern California for a visit to Ever After Scrapbooks on Wednesday evening and then CKU-Anaheim for my Week In The Life class from Thursday to Sunday.

After that I will be back home just in time for Simon to start swimming lessons. Super excited about this - hoping this will be the summer he learns to swim. He loves the water, loves water slides, etc. I am starting him off in a class with other kids to see how that goes (with the option of switching to private lessons if it isn't working out). We have a great outdoor pool here in Eugene that is one of his most favorite places to visit.

Here's to warm weather during those swimming lessons.

I ordered the beeswax CD (and a couple of other ones that looked really interesting) and told them you had recommended it. I figured they would get a bunch of orders and might as well know why! Can't wait to get it. Thanks, as always, for sharing this kind of information before we even ask. Although you know we're going to, don't you? :)

Cute photo! That's a great place to swim. I also love the one in Corvallis. Have you been to that one? It is great for all different sizes and of course they have the indoor/outdoor thing. Three different size slides. Can't wait to spend some time in the sun. I hope for you, that he gets to learn how to swim this summer. What an accomplishment!

Living in VT you can't count on warm pool weather. Our swim teacher recommend these at www.warmbelly.com. They are SO great & a good price too. I can't picture morning swim lessons without them.

Ali, just want to comment on the swimming lessons. My daughter was in a parent-child class at only 1-1/2 and 2 years old. Then we switched over to private lessons with that same teacher because she was comforable with her. The teacher (at the YMCA) told us later that private is the better way to go because with the classes they only get a few minutes of swim time in the water due to taking turns with all the other kids and with private lessons she got a whole 30 minutes all by herself. And I did watch the classes to see that the teacher was correct. Course, that's here in Illinois at the Y, so things may be different where you are. Just FYI.

Hi, Ali. This is my first comment! The way Simon was sitting is called Seiza in Japanese. I wonder how long he was sitting like that.... He has a good posture!

You have the most adorably sweet family. And I was just reading your sister's blog. You both have a kind-hearted way of expressing yourselves. And she's quite the style maven! I think I'm gonna have to bookmark her site!

I visit your blog from time to time and always enjoy it. I also liked the beeswax project and would like to know how it is done. I wanted to add that I grew up in Eugene and spent every summer at the Amazon pool. My mother would drop us off in the morning for swimming lessons (it was freezing--this is Oregon!) and we'd spend the afternoon with our friends hanging around the pool. This was in the '60's. Imagine my surprise to find there is a website for the pool I grew up at!

    Hi Ali -
This is completely unrelated, but I'm reading my weekly City Business newspaper (in New Orleans). There is a weekly article, "Better Selling", and the author references you and your website in the article. He is talking about goal setting and how it relates to intentions. He says,"Ever miss your sales goals? Of course you have. Everyone has. Want to know why? Enter Ali Edwards. She has the answer." It then goes on the link intentions and goals.
I thought you might be interested. If you'd like a copy, email me at ahurry@dei-engr.com, and I'll send it to you.

Ali, you and your husband have so many great pictures I HAVE to know how you store them! Do you archive to DVD, store them on an external drive, keep them in iPhoto, or something else??? I have discs, but most of them are in iPhoto. The one problem is, it doesn't play nice if I make any attempt to archive them and move them.
Thanks for the inspiration and keep taking pictures!

Cute post, but I sure miss the old Ali. Are you swamped or just cruising these days? What is happening at CK? I wish that you would post about the changes taking place. I read your 2 peas post about titles changes but job staying the same. There are lots of rumors out there; so please fill us in on the truth. Have fun at kiltsville.

I don't know if you're familiar with Discovery Toys (It's an in-home educational toy company), but my sister just started selling them and they promote and donate to Autism Speaks and they include a handout about what toys are specific to helping autistic children learn certain skills.
