December Daily® 2015 | Day Three

Welcome to December Daily® 2015 | Day 03.

Three thoughts to share with you today:

  1. Pace yourself. This is a December project. If you are short on time, do a quick story. If you have more time, have fun with it. Don't burn yourself out in the first week.
  2. Remember that this album is for whatever stories you feel like telling. It might be something Christmas-related or it might be something life-related or it might just be a quote. This is your album and your story and it can be anything you want it to be.
  3. One of the things I love about this project is that I don't know what story I'm going to tell each day. I love working with what I have, working with what's happening, identifying the story, and then getting it in the album. It's like a surprise and a gift to myself when I pick the story and run with it. If you are feeling stress or dread, how can you turn it around to use this project as a tool for gratitude or love or reflection?

Here's the foundation page for Day 03:

And here it is with the photo/words and other adjustments:

Multiple changes to my foundation pages today that you can see in real-life in the video below. When I decided on my story today (which is kind of two stories but they are also related) I knew I wanted to include a photo of Aaron from our date and a photo of my feet at yoga. I also used a couple stickers from the Gatherings Story Kit™ (black and white stickers).

These stories could be separate - when I look at the day now it almost looks like two days. But I'm cool with them being a part of one story in my heart and in this album.

The "3" card is from the Main Kit. On top of it I added an embossed metal-rimmed circle tag using the "Cheers" stamp from the Icon stamp set. I also added in one of the fun little rubber speech bubbles from the Cheer Story Kit™ this month. Short journaling about our date night includes a rolling date stamp that shows it actually happened on December 2. Tell the story you want to tell when you want to tell it

For my longer journaling I took one of the sheets from the Log Book (included with the Main Kit purchase during the pre-order period), cut off the photo portion on the bottom, folded part of it up, and added one of Jasmine Jones Mini Kit cards + one of her die-cut words on top. I love how this turned out. On the bottom of the fold-up I added a 2-inch Avery Index Tab

Real life journaling about the things I'm working on right now. These are the stories that matter to me.

Here's a look at the spread outside the album:

Ohhh! That tip about folding the Log Book page is excellent. :)

I also think your point about telling whatever story you want is so important. There's a thread over on SC that discusses PL and DD at the same time. I used to get caught up in the "only tell Christmas related stories" and it's so hard and stressful! By going with the flow and telling just a story you want or that pops up, it's 1-easier and 2-much more enjoyable. There are no rules, so make it what you need to.

I absolutely love what you did with the log book page, what a wonderful idea! My day 3 consisted of 2 stories as well. I truly am so thankful that I took your class this year. I have been letting the stories find me and now I know exactly what you mean about it being a little gift to yourself everyday!

I think the two stories together makes for a wonderful "bits & pieces" day - like you've said, no rules or limits, so why not go with everything you want to tell?

Duh, I forgot about the chat last night...was decking the halls here and enjoying a fun-filled evening with my daughter. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement yesterday when I posted about the anxiety issues that were taking over.

Self care = self forgiveness too! Sometimes grumpy just happens - you are doing a monumental amount of work - so thankful for the blog videos this week - everything you've been doing for all of your classes is so over-the-top!

I'm glad you went with the black peace card, what a clever way to salvage the 3x4 card. You're so good! That peace card really help balanced your #3 card.

It has been really cool to see your process so far with putting each day together. Helps me to think about how I work through my own. This project can be a great catalyst for me to work through my perfectionism issues (if I will let it). Good to see you strike the balance between revise/change your mind and then call it done. Thank you!

    Your DD is looking great!

Ali, I really appreciate the videos you post. I know they take more time and work, especially at the end of a most likely long day of work and parenting. Thank you for sharing your steps and thoughts as you plan your daily layout. They help and inspire me so. xoxo

the videos are so great! always find a takeaway & watching you put it together and your thought process as you do it makes it seem easier & simpler on our end :) (oh, and I have a guess what your 2016 OLW will be...weird, I know, I like to see if I can figure out what you will pick. My word has been waiting for me the last couple months, so looking forward to my 5th year!)

Thank you for all the inspiration! Loving the video, so great to see - and hear - how you're putting the spread together. I'm already behind on my album, this first few days of December have been a little bit crazy with long days out of house, but I'm getting there; the stories and the photos are in my head ready to be put together (today). :)
