Storytelling Stash Update | January 2017

Every so often I like to supplement my current memory keeping products with some new stuff. Not only do I like adding in different designs, I really like supporting other memory keeping designers and companies.

PS | Products included in these posts are ones that I purchase myself vs. being sent to me for promotion.

Here's a look at what I picked up this time from Scrapbook.com

Direct links to products included in the video above:

In the video I also mentioned that I purchased one of the We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriters. I'm just starting to play around with it and will let you know how it goes.

I am not Ali (if only!), but I have a little experience with the typewriter. I bought one in late August after debating whether or not I should at its price point. I couldn't pass up that beautiful pink Typecast! Although it looked great on my desk, I was a little disappointed in its performance - the keys stuck together a bit and I had several missed strikes. Individual letters within a word were not exactly straight on a line, although that can be charming, as well. I used it a lot less than I thought I would. But darn, it was pretty! The $$$ spent on it were really making me feel guilty. On a very rare trip to Goodwill, I found a vintage Smith-Corona in a beautiful peacock color that was priced $6.50. It was in perfect working condition and came with two brand new ribbons. I couldn't pass it up for that price. Took it home and fell in love. On my next weekly visit to Michaels, the manager asked me what I thought about the Typecast because he knew how pumped I was when I bought it. He told me that he had quite a few returned and was wondering what I thought. I told him that aside from fitting a 12x12 piece of paper (which I found out I don't type directly onto background pages!) I didn't really care for it, especially compared to the Smith-Corona. He told me that I could bring it back for a full refund. I felt bad about doing that, but after a couple of weeks, I did return it.

I am looking forward to your review of the typewriter. I've been looking at it for a long time, but am so hesitant to buy it. Love these "stash update" videos. I've also been going back through all the story kit lessons and watching the videos again and I just have to say THANK YOU for ALL that you put into those videos. It helps so much to see the ease with which you scrapbook....eyeballing things, writing directly with your pen and not "pre writing", just using your scissors to make little cut/shape changes, etc. You honestly take the "omg" out of scrapbooking. It's refreshing and I love watching all the content you include in your lessons. Thanks so much for all your hard work!

I am curious curious curious how you will use the 1Canoe2 engraved wood. I am flummoxed how to use this, but at the same time, I like it very much. Also - love seeing you using 1Canoe2 products. They are in central Missouri, right next to Columbia, MO, where I went to college and lived for several years afterwards. Seeing you supporting women-owned and operated companies like this - with the added bonus of them being in one of my favorite places in the country - makes my day. :)
