The Search For Glasses | Say Hello To David Kind
Tags:Last month I received an email with an invitation to try a different way to purchase eyeglasses from a new company called David Kind.
Here's the deal: I don't love that I need to wear glasses and I don't particularly like the process of picking out new glasses. I find I'm usually in a hurry - get in, get out. I also tend to wear my glasses for a long time until they are riddled with scratches or I need a new prescription. I rarely have more than one pair at once.
When this invite came through I thought it sounded like a fun way to test out some new frames and they have a super classy website and I like the idea of this kind of service and let's be honest, I can almost always use a style update.
David Kind is set up a bit like Stitch Fix.
After you sign up you upload a photo of yourself and any information you want them to know and enter your credit card information and then a stylist chooses six different pairs of glasses for you and mails them to your home. Free styling and free shipping.
And I loved their mission statement: Our mission is to provide the highest quality frames and lenses, hand selected to match your facial features and personal style by a friendly, qualified, real person. We provide people with glasses they look great in, lenses they see better through, all via unparalleled customer service.
Yes.
They arrive in a beautiful box (felt like Christmas) and then the fun of trying them on begins.
Now here's where I'd like some help from you guys. Which one do you like on me?
After trying them on and writing a couple notes on each pair on the cards provided you can pick one (or more) pairs to purchase.
You send the box and the glasses back and include your prescription and they will send you back your new glasses.
Trying them on was super fun. Having them here in my house for a few days was a much better experience than the pressure of being in the glasses store and feeling like I needed to make a quick decision.
So what do you think? I've got my personal favorite and so does Katie. I'll share the final result after I hear from you guys.

I like #6 myself...the fact that you look so happy in that pic could have something to do with it but I doubt it.
3 looks too small on you and looks like they are ready to sit on the end of your nose right off the bat.
1 makes you look much older than you are (or older than you would want to look!) Even though they are frameless they give the impression of the Mrs. Claus square granny glasses.
I thought maybe 4 was similar but they are so long that the shape kinda adds a bags under the eyes look to your face (it's the shadow...I am NOT saying you HAVE bags under your eyes, it's the glasses not you!) and 2 and 4 are both looking like they will end up on the end of your nose and like the other pair I mentioned about that they cut your eyes out of the picture-obstruct the view of your eyes (they don't "crop" your eyes right LOL!)
and then 5 is another great shape for your face although if you can go with a more subtle color I think it will give them less of a Woody Allen look to them.
That's my opinions :D

Ali,
You are a brave girl! lol #1 has a "disappearing" look which I really like on you. But #3 looks very nice on you too, if you are going for a "girl with glasses" look. I personally don't care for 4,5, or 6, they are just too much glasses for me. And #2 is a little too dark.
Good luck, J

I like 2 and 3 best---1 just disappears (which is okay if that is the look you are going for). 4 & 5 seem too big for your face. I like the color of 6 but I could not tell exactly how it looked on you with your happy face photo!
Love this concept. My hubby tried something similar with another company although he selected the frames that were mailed to him. I like the this idea that they picked frames for you.
Good luck!

#1 hands down. The other five overpower your light hair and skin tone.

#2! I used to work for an optometrist, so I have experience with this!

2 is my absolute favorite. Sorry, but I think 1 and 4 make you look extremely washed out. I think you need some color because of your fair coloring. Just my 2 cents of course (and you did ask... lol!)

I like # 2 and 3 on you. What a great way to pick out glasses. I find they always send me to look at glasses when my eyes are dilated and I can't see very well:) God Luck!

Well, you look great in all of them. However, my favorite is #5. (By the way, the first pair makes you resemble your beautiful mother!)

#1 look nice for an "invisible" style. If you're looking to make more impact, I'd say #2 or #3. (are they the same, just different color?) Would be interesting to see what your kids and a man in your life think, also. :-)
