The Search For Glasses | Say Hello To David Kind
Last month I received an email with an invitation to try a different way to purchase eyeglasses from a new company called David Kind.
Here's the deal: I don't love that I need to wear glasses and I don't particularly like the process of picking out new glasses. I find I'm usually in a hurry - get in, get out. I also tend to wear my glasses for a long time until they are riddled with scratches or I need a new prescription. I rarely have more than one pair at once.
When this invite came through I thought it sounded like a fun way to test out some new frames and they have a super classy website and I like the idea of this kind of service and let's be honest, I can almost always use a style update.
David Kind is set up a bit like Stitch Fix.
After you sign up you upload a photo of yourself and any information you want them to know and enter your credit card information and then a stylist chooses six different pairs of glasses for you and mails them to your home. Free styling and free shipping.
And I loved their mission statement: Our mission is to provide the highest quality frames and lenses, hand selected to match your facial features and personal style by a friendly, qualified, real person. We provide people with glasses they look great in, lenses they see better through, all via unparalleled customer service.
Yes.
They arrive in a beautiful box (felt like Christmas) and then the fun of trying them on begins.
Now here's where I'd like some help from you guys. Which one do you like on me?
After trying them on and writing a couple notes on each pair on the cards provided you can pick one (or more) pairs to purchase.
You send the box and the glasses back and include your prescription and they will send you back your new glasses.
Trying them on was super fun. Having them here in my house for a few days was a much better experience than the pressure of being in the glasses store and feeling like I needed to make a quick decision.
So what do you think? I've got my personal favorite and so does Katie. I'll share the final result after I hear from you guys.

I love 1. They are the only ones that don't look like a prop. I see your face and eyes. I see you.
#6 is second place. The scale looks really balanced with your features and the pop of color looks fun.

I gotta go with 3 and 6 (although maybe change the colour?)

I'd say 2 or 3. Thank you for sharing this - I am in the process of trying to get new glasses right now and I hate shopping for frames :)

#1 because you notice your beautiful face without colored frames getting in the way.
#2 because it is a nice shape and the color is a good contrast to your hair & skin tone
#5 If you prefer a larger frames than that's my favorite of the large frames.
Are you confused yet? Good Luck deciding. :)

Don't like 4 or 5 at all, not wild about 6. 2 and 3 both look great, and are very similar - just depends which colour you prefer - maybe 2?
Number 1 is nice in a different way, but I think 2 and 3 suit you better.
Have fun deciding!

What a great service/company! I wore glasses from age 4 to age 16 (as I grew older my eyesight improved) and I am stubbornly fighting the need to wear them now.
So, I see great appeal in #1, as they don't really stand out. I also really like how #2 looks relative to the shape of your face.
Have fun choosing!

I have an idea that I am better at picking out glasses for other people, not myself - I need my daughter and maybe you do too! She has such a good eye for design - she helps me with cards and layouts. But I will give you my opinion - are you tallying these up?
no. 1 is great when you don't want your glasses making the statement.
No. 5 has been the style for a couple of years.
Maybe no. 6 but I would need a more serious face, LOL! Is there an online magazine for the new trends in glasses? Since we keep the same glasses for a long time we usually jump on a trend and ride it way passed its time - ok, at least I do!!!

I too have trouble deciding in the store. This is a great new service.
All of the frames look fantastic on you. What is your prescription like? If it is very strong then you should probably go for smaller lenses otherwise you'll get that weird eye distortion.
All the frames look fantastic but I like all the lighter frames because to me they let you shine through. I see your face first. The darker frames are striking and you look good in them but I see the frame first.
Whichever you pick, you'll look great. Have fun picking!

I really like #3 the best. The color fits you and the shape is great too!

I like #2 & #3. I really don't like #1, they look like granny glasses.

Oh, I feel the same way about getting new glasses. I just got a new prescription, looked for new frames (every day and sunglasses) and as you said, never enough time and feeling rushed. So I did not get any. signed up for David Kind, can't wait to get my selection.
As for your style I like #2 - if you need bigger lenses because of bifocals #5 :O)
