I wish I had time to read more than my monthly subscription to CK and Cooking Light! I've read a couple books in the last six months (terrible, I know) but I want to recommend a TERRIFIC and SO CUTE board book that both my boys loved and that I give away as gifts to friends and family who've had babies:
Sometimes I Like to Curl Up in a Ball by Vicki Churchill.
I love this book and if you've never read it, take a look; I think you'll love it, too!

An amazing book that I have read recently is by Jodi Picoult. The title is... Nineteen Minutes. A couple other really great books by her include... The Tenth Circle and My Sister's Keeper. Her writing style just makes everything feel so real... like it's happening right then at that moment... her books just suck me into the story line and the character lives!

The Artemis Fowl series of 4 books by Eoin Colfer is what my 12 yr old son, Brodie, and I have just finished.
These are fun, whimsical,easy to read, can't put them down(!) books that we both loved. It's great talking about the characters together.
Eoin is up to more good stuff too and I can't wait to get my hands on more of his stuff!

The Artemis Fowl series of 4 books by Eoin Colfer is what my 12 yr old son, Brodie, and I have just finished.
These are fun, whimsical,easy to read, can't put them down(!) books that we both loved. It's great talking about the characters together.
Eoin is up to more good stuff too and I can't wait to get my hands on more of his stuff!

Wow - just one book recommendation? I only have about a million favourites! Let's see - first thing that comes to mind is "Adam Bede" by George Eliot. I read it about 18 years ago, and I remember really enjoying it. "The Mill on The Floss" by George Eliot was good, too, but sad at the end (if I remember correctly). If you're looking for something more "modern" how about anything by John Grisham - his courtroom dramas and suspense novels always make for a good read!

An awesome book I just read is called The Most Influential People Who Never Lived. It explores the role that fictional characters play in our lives - from Santa Claus to the Marlboro Man, Barbie to Harry Potter. As a self-professed bibliophile and avid childhood reader, I know firsthand the impact that fictional beings can have on developing imagination and inspiring individuals. This is a must read and a cool springboard for a fun scrapbook project (I'm thinking a mini-book of all of my favorite characters...)!
